Looking for suggestions on public courses in or very near Chattanooga, TN .. especially on the east side near Ooltewah. I'm hoping to be there for a week in March or perhaps April.

the honors course. i've played it but it is hard to get on. you won't find many better anywhere. i mean anywhere. it takes a member to get on or at least a recommendation from one. but it is pristine golf. check it out.

Thanks ... I know that course is about a half mile from my mom's house ... from what I've seen (which isn't much) it looks like one of those courses where I'd feel guilty for taking a divot!!
That one is on the list for sure!

If you could stand making a 40-odd mile drive to the south, I'd suggest checking out the Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville, Georgia, roughly halfway between Chattanooga and Atlanta.

You should look at the Bear Trace, Harrison bay. As a local, its tough for me to get on the Honors, good luck to you great course. Closest to you would be Branierd Golf course ( muni, but still fun, old donald ross design) , Eagle Bluff , ValleyBrook, and Creeks Bend, and if you know someone, Chattanooga Golf and Country Club is another private course thats a lot of fun, its the course i grew up playing. tough but fun. Hope this helps!
