I know "blehh" is a abstract word to describe the mood, but that's what I would call it. Lately I get really sleepy and bored, and I'm not sure why. How would you guys recommend I get outa my slump? It honestly really affects my golf game, because if I go to practice outside, my swing becomes REALLY lazy, I could practically just sleep face first on the ground by the time I reach the top of my swing.

I got a great night's sleep last night, so that's not the problem or at least I don't think.

1. exercise 3 times week - great for stress
2. balanced diet
3. music - listen to some tunes that get you going
4. 6-8 hrs sleep - some say 8 is best, but i feel best on 6.5-7
"My swing is homemade - but I have perfect flaws!" - Me

Great advice from enis750. For me, the blehh leads to staying up late wasting time on the Internet, creating a vicious circle when lack of sleep puts me back in that mood the next night. Getting enough sleep and some exercise (which also helps you sleep) helps a lot.

I'd also say keep yourself busy with active things. Clean your house/apartment/room, do something productive, go outside and do yardwork, or just for a walk. If you find yourself plugged in to the computer or watching TV, you're just going to make yourself feel worse. If you can't think of anything better to do, bake some cookies or something. Then eat them and go to sleep.

I'll normally go for a quick bike ride or some exercise to clear my mind, it works surprisingly well and wakes me up. push-ups are good if you don't feel like going anywhere though.

This sounds simple, but it is so true!!!

You have to understand too that somedays are simply going to be "downers". As long as you learn healthy ways to snap out of it, you'll be fine. My wife is constantly reminding me my mood gets VERY Bleuhh this time of year ... a day in the sun is often all it takes to bring me out of it.

Exercise, start easy with a simple walk to warm up and do this for at least 30 minutes everyday. After 3 days your legs muscles with tone and build and your legs will start to walk themselves with very little effort, before you know it you will increase your pace of walking and after a week of this your build up to a slow jog for 5 - 10 minutes. Any form of exercise will get more oxygen to your lungs and you will feel energized for the whole day!

Definitely watch how long you sleep, like enis said. I like 6.5-7 hours too, and will purposely plan to get that much sleep, even if I don't have school or work the next day. When I'm actually in those moods, for whatever reason exercise doesn't help and coffee just makes it worse, so I take a cold shower for a couple minutes. Seriously, afterwards you will be focused like nothing else.

I think everyone has those "blehh" moods from time to time. I know for me that they come less frequently when I am on a good schedule......working out 3 to 4 times a week, eating right, getting enough sleep and less drinking. That's what works for me....plus i'm just glad to be here and able to do the things I like.

I also have the moods come over me. I see some say exercise some say diet but I think that with the everyday struggles of life we are going to have these days no matter what. I do exercise or work in the yard to take my mind off it but this usually does not remedy the problem. I think the key is to not let it take over your everyday activities. Stress is a part of life. It is how each indivdual deals with it that makes the difference. Good luck and keep hacking.

I would say diet issue (along with the other bits of info mentioned by Mr. 750). I think golfers tend to neglect the fact that golf is a sport.

I remember this quote "You can treat life as ordinary or you can tread life as a miracle" Albert Enstein.

You have to remember that everybody has lows in life and its what you do about it to get yourself out. To give of yourself to someone else will help you in the right direction to feeling better about things in general.

+1 on diet and exercise. If you've never eaten healthy food consistently and been on a regular, challenging exercise program, you probably don't even know what feeling good is like. Sometimes I let things slip, get lazy and before you know it I'm feeling "bleh" and can't figure out why.
