Looks good, the item that caught my eye was in the "face on" shot looks like you lose balance at the end...dont know if you are really trying to bust one for the camera or not. Maybe reel it back a little and keep your balance .

A bit too much on the inside on the back swing, when the club is parallel to the ground our hands should be in the center of your chest, yours are a little behind (not much but you have asked for tips) I think you overswing as well and come across the line at the top of your back swing. At the top try not to go past parallel and the club should be pointing at your target, yours points to the right a little. But on the whole a good looking, what is your bad shot? What are you playing off?

Actually just watched again and slowed it down and don't think what I said was correct apart from the over swing. Nice Swing.

You are flying your hips out to much, and you are staying a little to much back on your right foot going through impact. If you stop the video at the 4 seconds left mark, you can see his spine bent over, and his head hanging low. You dropped your right shoulder down and through, during impact and stayed on your back side. I would work on maintaining that spine angle more, other than that the angles look good, on plane.. Solid swing

Actually pretty much all of what you said was perfect. I do struggle with taking it inside. So if you noticed it, it was probably there. And I do struggle with keeping my swing short. Only my driver gets past every now and then. My usual miss is a push or hook.

Yea. I swing it pretty hard. And my legs aren't super strong so its hard for me to control my weight shift.

But, the camera mighta got the best of me on this one. haha

Now my last teacher made me start dropping that right shoulder so that I would keep the face open longer before impact, and so I wouldn't come over the top and hit a low duck hook. Do you know any drills that'd help me keep my weight going through, while not making me hook it?

Thank you all for the comments and tips =)

A Classic miss for a really good player. I am going to try to get this right, i know MOE will probably correct me if i am wrong on this..

Push means that your club is comming from the inside out, and that the club face angle relative to the swing path is square.
Hook would mean that the club face angle relative to the swing path is less than square, closed way to much.

So this is pretty much a timing issue. I have the same issue as you do, a push or hook if things are going bad. This is because i hang back on my right side, due to my hips flying out to fast getting ahead of my upper body. This causes me to flip the club or if i don't time it perfect push it right.

I think you issue is the overswinging, because the club lags so much you are having a hard time syncing it up. honestly for me, i have the same problem. My swing though it 3/4th shots. If i think 3/4th shot, then my club is at parallel, but it feels like i am way short of it. I still think you are comming out of your swing a bit in the downsing, body lifts up out of it and you loose your spine angle. One of the best mental notes i heard of was you want to try to compress the ball with your chest. That is keep overtop of the ball. When you lift out of it you need perfect timing. I would look at Pro swing sequences to get a look at how your swing differs from theres. You have a very very good swing, and the next step is probably nit pick at a few things here and there.

Actually, it depends on the person. With a consistant swing, if you move the ball forward you are actually going to hook the ball because your giving your swing more time to close the club face. If you move the ball back, now the ball is in a position were the club face will be in an open position and you will slice or push the ball. The club doesn't move straight down the target line, its only square for a short while.

i just think you need to get a little stronger. dont worry, it will come. do you do any strength training at all? maybe some lunges with light weight dumbells (10 - 20 lbs) and some pull ups, dont forget the ab work.

Looks like a pretty solid swing. But with just quick glance, your ball position is a little far forward and your lower half is really violent and unstable during the swing. Im just guessing but you probably come up and out of your swing often and lose balance. You can quiet your legs down and still take your usual aggressive swing. You take a pretty wide base, but dont use it as athletically as it seems like youre capable of. Perhaps at the practice tee narrow you stance a half step with a shorter swing and see how you do.

Swing looks good. Not sure what your ball is doing consistently to offer good advice.

Two things I noticed. One the face shot video, watch where your head is at at set up and how it moves down, back and then back up through the swing. One fundamental is to keep a quiet head, yours appears to move alot. Second, your stance appears a little to wide. It should be shoulder width and yours appears wider than that.

Good luck this season!

just from a couple of quick looks i see what you're saying about needing your weight to continue forward. it looks like you're shifting your weight to your right leg during your backswing, make sure to keep your weight on the left side. maybe work on keeping your right leg straight during your backswing.

as far as keeping your weight going through, i think it's in your hip slide. you start out good with the hip sliding forward but then they start to turn instead of slide towards the end of your swing. i've seen a drill where you put your butt up against a wall in your stance, then take a swing and when you slide your hips forward to start your downswing make sure both of your back pockets stay in contact with the wall the whole time during your swing. in other words, your hips shouldn't turn, one pocket touching the wall while the other is off. sorry if this is wordy, kind of hard to explain. i.e. work on finishing your slide, haha.

Yeah...the pants are pretty brutal. Work on that too, kid.

This... especially the lower body part. This is one reason I don't like looking at a driver swing. There tends to be additional movement to get added power that isn't present in other swings. If you swing like this for your irons, it's going to be difficult to get the consistent ball striking to take it to the next level. Any chance we can get an iron swing video (6-iron)?

But, specifically for this swing... in the front view, you slide your hips back 4-6 inches to start the backswing and almost straighten the left leg. The better motion would be for your hips to move no more than a couple of inches and the left knee to bend inward. This will keep you more centered and take a little less timing out of the downswing. A slightly narrower stance may also help to prevent so much sliding. Obviously, you have a lot of good things going on in the swing. I'm pretty jealous. Good luck.

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
    • Day 47 - 2024-11-16 Light backswing work with about 3 or 4 rehearsals for every ball hit. Only about ten minutes while waiting for a potential member to show up (he was 25 minutes late). 😛
    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter
