Has anybody tried getting any golf instruction online?
I am interested in having some sort of a practice plan to learn the game properly and build a good base to improve upon. Going at it alone is not an option and there are no golf coaches around my town that would do that. I can only get private lessons for fixing a particular problem but not really a progressive instruction.

I have several books and videos but am looking into some guidance as to how to plan my practice time.

Any suggestions are welcome.

sara, "evolvr" online swing analysis will be offered soon on this forum. Do you have a camera so you can post video of your swing? I think that's a must if you want to get the most out of online instruction. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I do have a camera. Not sure what specs would be required for the video. I will set it up and shoot some video to test it.

While googling I found the Pure Golf Training site. Anybody tried it? Looks interesting with the practice plan. That's something I am having a hard time finding locally.

I think you have the right idea looking for a practice plan. I have started working with an instructor recently, but I wish I had more structure between lessons.

To clarify, we're not offering it "on this forum," we're offering it as a standalone product. I just happen to be one of the two owners of the product... but otherwise, it's a separate entity.

As with all instruction, you tend to get what you pay for and you should really be careful to choose an instructor or group of instructors you can trust.

I've been practicing mostly chipping and putting but I wish I had a better idea of what I should be doing when I practice (some drills or something like that). Going to a pro for a quick fix about a problem I have (and I know I have a lot of them) doesn't seem like a good investment in money and time at this point.

That's what I am concerned about. I know that once you learn a technique it's hard to change it and I want to be cautious not to learn it incorrectly from the get-go.

I avoid looking for drills and tips to problems without knowing the exact cause. I use video all the time, I also use Evolvr and has so far experienced great results and progress.
Today, I can't imagine working on my swing without video, and preferably with help from professional instructors, like Evolvr.

If I search for "slice" or "hook" on Google or Youtube, I end up with dozens of different tips and suggestions. There is no guarantee that even one of them will help me. It is like playing darts blindfolded, your results will be completely random.

That's why I am more interested in finding instruction with a plan, rather than going by myself looking for drills that may help some problem I have or for some problem I don't even have. So far, haven't found another site that does that. Where can I learn more about Evolvr?

Thanks.

Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
