Well my 4 man scramble team was put together rather well. We started out birdie birdie eagle so we played very well. Even chipped in for eagle from a bunker. Overall we shot -11, 60. We turn in our card and the next closest round was a 67. Then the last group comes in, the also shot a 60. THe tournament ppl decided that becasue they "bought" 5 mulligans for $5 each, that they were the winners. We shot a legit 60 without any mulligans and still lost. I know it was all for a good cause, but I kinda felt like we got stiffed considering the winning team actually shot 5+ strokes worse than us, and they got a free round of golf coupon.....

Do you all feeel the same way?

They won because they bought more mulligans? Doesn't that just mean they made more bad shots, how do they win with that? They should have let ya'll play an extra hole or something.

Lol.....I really was expecting "so they said we tied." THAT would have even been a stretch for me...you should have won, but since they paid them more $$$ they win...What a joke...I would have been furious, but that's just me.

I thought the usual tie breaker in these scramble tournaments was score on most difficult hole. If the score is the same, then the second most difficult hole, etc. But, I suppose if you guys bought mulligans, you may have beaten them straight up.

You got ripped, but as long as it was for a good cause, i'd let it slide.

That is the normal tie breaker.

Their version made me laugh out loud. But for charity whatever let it slide. You know who won!

Kinda stinks they couldn't find a better way to break the tie.

IMO, the tiebreaker should have been the other way around. Whoever used fewer mulligans should've won.

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

yeah that was our argument. In the end, I put together my team, so what I got out of today was finding that we gel really well. I hit 13 out of 14 fairways so the guys could go buck loose everyhole. Then my short game was pretty decent while one of the other guys couldnt miss a putt. I wish they didnt sell any mulligans, but I'm an Alum for the High School Football team that the tournament was for. I felt it was a good cause and it was their inagural tournament, so Ill make some suggestions for next year.

I think the best thing in a scramble tournament is to not have any prizes of value for winning teams. Better to give everyone a raffle ticket and draw for the prizes.

They got a coupon to play the course we played. Really it wasn't that big of a deal, but we were bummed because we played so well. They had plenty of raffle items, they gave away an autographed Steelers Superbowl ball and some other autographed merch.

And sell additional tickets too. I also like prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin; hole in one prizes are nice too (and fair). As to overall score you really can't put much stock in that. For one thing people try to load up their team so that they have an advantage. Even if the event orgainizers mixed up the teams and tried to balance them out via handicap things like mulligans and rolling the ball unbalance the game too much. Raffling off the prizes gives everyone an equal chance and a way for the orgainization to raise more money than just from the team fees to play.

There was a long drive and a closest to the pin. A hole in one got you free chicken wings at Wing House for a year....but I would have rather had a wing house girl for a night lol
