i choose phil for one simple reason he's a better person...to hell with golf. when tiger was to upset about coming in second place in china and didn't sign one autograph, nor bother to acknowledge them in any way, he could have dropped dead and i wouldn't have cared. they paid him so much money to come there the least he could have done was be a decent guest. phil stays to the last autograph... phil looks like he is haveing fun when he plays, tiger looks like he's ready to curse at you.

about the comment of seeing him hit a 4 wood out of hay...that's just one shot he didn't pull off. what about the bunker shot over his head....and it's not like tiger hasn't tried some seemingly ridiculous shots.....standing in water half way up his legs.....how many people have hit that one with any success.

you cant argue he's not preparing enough, for God's sake he is number 2 in the world....so then i guess everyone on tour including Vijay is lazy weak minded slobs who ought to pack it in right....let's think carefully about what we say before we say it.....tiger is just a craze....granted the man is extremely talented, but that's no excuse for being a piss poor person.

Tiger has the Tiger Woods Foundation, the Tiger Woods Learning Center, the Tiger Charity classic tournament. Not to say that Mickelson doesn't but Tiger is not a bad person. And would you have made that comment if it weren't for the question asked at the PGA last weekend? And do you know that other tour players call Phil 'FIGJAM' and what it stands for? That certainly seems to reflect poorly on Phil's interpersonal skills.

Tiger, I am sure, has played some ill advised shots. However, they are not part and parcel to his legacy. Phil will always be remembered, rightly or not, for the driver on 18 and his mistakes in majors before that. Your logic is extremely flawed. Because Warren Buffet has the second most money doesn't relate at all to how hard he works in comparison to Bill Gates. So I am not sure how to address the last point. But I will say his current mode of practice is markedly better than before. (I have a dream that 'Jacque' is really Phil, and that I have baited him into arguing on the internet...one can hope, huh?)

Wow, it's cool that you know both of these guys well enough to ascertain who is a "better person." I wish I had multimillionaire friends on the PGA tour.

when tiger was to upset about coming in second place in china and didn't sign one autograph, nor bother to acknowledge them in any way, he could have dropped dead and i wouldn't have cared.

The feeling was mutual, I'm sure.

phil looks like he is haveing fun when he plays, tiger looks like he's ready to curse at you.

Phil looks like he's having fun when he's playing

well . Phil looks like he's going to vomit when he's yanking drivers into tents on the 72nd hole of the US Open. Tiger looks like he's ready to curse at you when you snap a camera during his backswing.

Phil's not pulled off many, many, many shots. And I'm trying very hard to remember Tiger Woods standing in water halfway up his legs. I might be forgetting something. Please enlighten to me as to which tournament you're talking about. Otherwise, you're just making s

Wouldn't that be Ford versus Buick?

I don't want to vote for either. I like the underdog and that leaves Tiger out and Phil is too much the pansy that chokes down the stretch. I think he is not going to make the cut in this tourney and his game and confidence is gone. Tiger does curse alot when he misses a shot and thats not good. I saw him in the Buick Open say the GD thing in front of the camera and that doesn't go over well with a lot of folks including me. I am liking this Luke Donald guy the more I see him and Olgivey. They seem to be an asset to golf and will be in the future I think.

Tickled me today when the announcers were oohing and aahing about Tigers long drive and Gore out drove him by 15yds. Gore can smash that ball!

i dont know how to do all the little cool quote things so i'll do the best i can....

tigers charities are great but its no excuse for being an *******.
phil also does charities, maybe not on the same level as tiger but tiger isn't paying for those things they are tax write offs....besides more people are willing to invest into tigers name because of all the hype surrounding him...tiger is known for being a tightwod, both him and michael jordan.

I have no way of supporting this claim; but if Phil had tigers money he would be doing more for the people. Impossible to prove though so its mere speculation.

i did not agree with phils decision on the 72 hole like everyone else but you cant just hate him for not winning that major....tiger didnt even make the cut, so his decisions on every hole during the week were stupid...

yes i know tiger was in mourning still

...i personally don't fault anyone for trying and failing...colin split the fairway and still screwed up the 72nd....if phil pulls off the 8 iron this isn't even an issue.

...no FIGJAM was probably started by a few of the lower ranked tour players who may have taken something he said the wrong way....I did a little research and have found no evidence of anyone of the top players referring to Phil as FIGJAM....have you personally ever heard anyone say that about him....and not someone in your sunday foursome.

i have seen both players in person.... i said hi to tiger and he didn't even look our way....and i have phils autograph on my medinah flag....i believe tiger won at medinah so he should have been in a good mood, and phil didn't do to well but i dont remember any vomiting.

what do you mean it doesn't make sense....jack nicklaus was an amazing golfer but people were not going nuts over him....are you going to sit here and say that tiger doesn't recieve more accolades for his accomplishments than jack did....christ everyone on the the face of earth knows his face but not all know jacks....and he still has more majors than tiger.

tiger is a craze....he's what the people want to see, again nothing against his golf because i too believe he's the greatest golfer to have ever lived and will probably pass jack in majors....i just wish he was a little more personable on the course.

....maybe i am a little harsh on tiger but you should not ignore the fans their the ones who make you what you are....Where would he be if noone cared that he was good at golf.

I have no possible replies for any of these inane arguments. It's not worth the effort. You don't like Tiger. Enough said. http://www.boston.com/sports/golf/ar...s_hes_willing/ http://www.findarticles.com/p/articl...52/ai_73959582

phil looks like he is haveing fun when he plays, tiger looks like he's ready to curse at you.

I think that's because Phil is feeding his ego. Tiger is feeding off the course.

Tiger blocks everything out except for what is in front of him - the next shot. He isn't worried about impressing the galaries, just executing the shot he has visualized. He has a frickin' job to do when he steps on the course. If he doesn't acknowledge you or I, so be it. Does he have to slam the club or curse? No, but it is just the perfectionist in him coming out...and a lot of us can relate to that. Check for Tiger.

Fairways and Greens.

That is without sponsorships because nobody cares that he is good at golf and he not even Top Flite would sponsor him. Seems like you have an attitude problem, perhaps you should take some anger management courses. breathe in breathe out aaaaooooommm

STAT OF THE WEEK
Since the U.S. Open, Phil Mickelson has finished a combined 58 shots behind Tiger Woods in the four tournaments they have played.

I am a Tiger guy. I have been a Tiger guy since the first time I watched him play in the US Amateur. He is the Michael Jordean of golf. He dominates like nobody before him ever has. He is an athelete and has raised the bar and quality of the entire sport.

I was happy for Phil when he won the Masters the first time. He is too good a player not to have a major. However, I agree with everyone who says he is a fraud. Just because he parades his wife and kids on the green when he wins does not make him great guy. I read his book about a year ago and it really made me feel even stronger that this whole nice guy thing is an act. Just the way the book was written was stiff and fake. They didn't talk that way in Mayberry, much less think that way. By the way, have all the Phil fans forgotten about the gambling history. I am guessing the bet he won on the Super Bowl a few years ago was not his first. How about the supposed huge sum that Callaway bailed him out off? I do believe that gambling is illegal.

Hmmm...does a tightwod give the ford GT he won at Doral to Stevie?? Twice if my memory serves?

Does a tightwod donate ALL of his winnings from the Target Golf Challenge to his foundation?? Oh and that was over $1,000,000 as well. No I think not. You can't substantiate that claim, and there is lots of evidence to the contrary. And when was the last time Tiger barged in on Phil's interview and paraded all his Nike Swooshs for the camera?? Nope, can't remember that either. And yet we all know what Phil did don't we?? I don't really dislike Phil - although I am getting that way - but I just think Tiger has so much more class, let alone being a better player.

I personally can't stand the good guy/family man act that Hefty puts on. The acceptance speech at the Masters when he asked everyone to pray for Tigers dad, his little brats running on the course with that goldigger in tow every time he wins, make me wince. What a phony.

And I've read many places that its a complete act and lots of people on tour can't stand him.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
