Looking into the off season. My biggest issues are club awareness. I can’t feel it in the backswing. I don’t have face to path awareness.

Low point consistency. I don’t know why I hit behind the ball 2 inches.

I agree

Notes for myself from playing golf last night.

Set Up - Being more mindful of this. I still catch myself aiming way right. I really have to aim my body way open before lining up the club.

Grip - Set up with the club more open, what feels like 10 degrees more open. I find myself just closing down the face a bit too much. When I do this, it helps me release the club more and not lean back. Just feels like I need to get the hands through impact better. If not, because I will just hit it right a ton.

Full Swing - Sometimes I find something on the course. I was thinking, just get your hands down and through impact. I really forced myself to get my hands and right side through impact. I made a couple of practice swings and actually made my swing like the practice swing. I stripped a drive. Felt more over the ball. I actually felt the movement of my hands in the backswing. Like I mentioned above, low point control is an issue. Probably some saggy knee syndrome.

I thought we talked about the opposite: line the club up, and then line your body up to that?

Yes, I still aim too far right on the course. I may need to practice this on its own to get down.

I still drift a little sometimes, but generally this is what "fixed" aiming for me. And fully fixed like way bad aiming. If I've aimed the club face half decently at a reference point 1-3 feet in front of the club, I can't drift **that** far right when I set my feet!

Got a lesson up at Golf Evolution from Erik.

New priority piece.

  1. Getting my hips to work correctly by getting my right hip to slide to the right and back behind me. HUGE stretch in the right glute and right lower back area. I need to make sure my head stays steady over the ball.
  2. Pressure should build under the right side of my right foot. Just way more under my right foot overall.
  3. Hip rotation should come from internal rotation, mostly by my torso turning into my right hip, not allowing my right knee to rotate outwards. It's keeping the front of my hip facing towards the ball as much as possible, and letting the turn come from the torso. The hips will turn (sometimes way too much, something to manage).
  4. I need to hang out on the right side, to allow the swing to collect. Allows for better timing.

*Glare warning! I know I should be wearing my hate. Sorry 😛

Side note, got on the force plates as well. I have 120% vertical GRF. PGA TOUR players are like 200%. This is relative to their body weight. So yea, for those who know my swing speed. 🤣

180% is the threshold. But yeah, many of them are close to 200%. Not 120 and 123%.

People generate speed differently. I think your speed will come more easily when this stuff gets sorted out.

Stay disciplined. Stay on the road. You can't get off exit 74 before you hit exit 32.

Update

New priority piece of working on how my hip work in the backswing.

1) Hips feel like they don't rotate much at all, just shift back and right as my head stays centered.
2) The torso turn turns into the right hip, loads of internal hip rotation. Right knee stays facing forward much more, and stays more flexed. I feel a ton of pressure on the inside of my right foot as it braces against the torque from the turn. I feel the inside of my right hip bracing against the turn, and my right glute bracing against shift of the hip. The right leg feels very stable.

Summary from my lesson up in Erie.

1. Keep doing good with the hip stuff. Lots of lateral shift back and right.
2. Hinge from like A1.5 to A3. Feel the club more vertical at A3. I tend to not hinge, and then roll the club inside. Then it promotes over swinging, and looping of the club from shallow to steep. Hinge wrist, to then hinge elbow. Also, keep width. Don't let I all collapse before the transition or in the downswing.
3. Not focusing on this now, but just be mindful when making any swings with a ball that I get my weight behind me and not fall towards the ball. I can sometime loose my balance towards the pinky toe of my left foot instead of getting the weight into the heel.
4. Set up stuff. I am standing too tall. I need bend over at the hip more. Get the handle of the club lower at address. Weight distribution feels like more in my toes than in the heel.

Drill: Start backswing with weight shift of the hip. Then the hands travel back to like A1.5, then hinge vertical to A3, and pause. Without taking the club back further, swing down.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
    • I have access to far more data (including surveys and polls) than you do with your anecdotes. I mean this as plainly and literally as possible: you’ve demonstrated that you do not. They would, one way or the other.
