you're still happy with your old stuff?

In other words, do you feel compelled to buy a new driver every year or so, regardless of how well you may be hitting then one you're playing?

Just curious about guys who seem to always have the latest and (supposedly) greatest golf gizmos in their bag. Personally, I stick with clubs I like until they are obviously outdated and likely costing me strokes.

Cheers,
DoctorK

I usually get draged to demo's days with mates. Also my golf coach has so much gear he lets me try/have if I like it.

But I will stick with somthing till i find somthing better. I may be smashing my driver but if I find somthing that I hit better and I have some money, then I get it. Thats for driver anyways.

Fairway woods, i have like 6 of them and thats all I will have for a long time, I use them depending on my bag set up for that day. Different course/ conditions.

Ive always had my Irons nothing I have ever hit has been better!

Wedges - Well I replace once they have no life left in them.

Putter - Doubt I will ever change it, I love it that much! 26 Putts today in fact :P

Kicking and screaming, no doubt.

Unless I'm actually in the market for new gear, I have to avoid demo days at all costs. Can you say "kid in a candy store"? Cheers, DoctorK

IN the last three years I have purchased;

TaylorMade Rac os Irons
Callaway-x16
Ping G-10's
Wilson DI7

I buy new clubs all the time, because I am still trying to find the right set for me. It's also fun for me to buy and try new clubs. The only two clubs that haven't changed in 3 years are my Putter- Scotty Cameron Newport 1.5 and My CLeveland CG10 wedge. Throughout this time, my handicap has gone from a 15 to around a 12...thanks to the short game!!!

G10 9.0* fujikura stiff
Speedline 3 wood 13*
A4 OS 19* hybrid
S2 with Project X 5.5 steel shafts
CG 10 54* Studio Style 1.5

My driver was developed about the time I started taking golf seriously. I'm happy with it - it behaved well today, except for a few bad swings by me. One of these days, I'll get a new one - maybe a 2011 model.

But no; if a club is doing what it needs to do for me, it has a spot in my bag.

I like to keep my driver and wedges fairly new. Driver technology is constantly changing and improving, so if you are playing a driver than is more than 5 years old you are likely hurting your game by not playing something that is somewhat current.
Same with wedges, you want to keep your wedges fairly fresh because over time the grooves will wear down and you wont get as much spin.
Beyond that though, Im not all that worried about having the latest and greatest stuff in my bag.

If something's working it'll stay in my bag. The only exception to that I can think of is when I replaced my 56 degree wedge when I bought a wedge set - still think about chucking it back in every now and then. Mind you I haven't been playing that long so I don't have any really 'dated' clubs in my set, my r5 driver is probably the worst but I never hit it anyway.

I've been buying up Nickent stuff like crazy the last few weeks. They can be found dirt cheap and it is still high quality equipment. Shame what happened to that company...

Same for me.

My 3-wood is 15 years old and my driver is 7 years old, so no. I love those two clubs and would get rid of them if I found something I hit better, I just haven't found it yet. I go to demo days and hit as many things as I can becuase I like trying out the new stuff, but it doesn't make me feel like I need to buy something just because it is new. I have tried to replace the driver a couple of times, but always go back to it.

My wedges get replaced every few years becuase they wear out, not because there is something new to have.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I wish I could say I stick to the same equipment for long periods of time, but I can't help it, I have to try different stuff. I try not to break the bank though, I buy almost exclusively used stuff, and sell it if I don't like it.

I'm a gear junky at heart. I like new things and I like new technology. With that said, I can't say my game has improved due to a new technology. My favorite driver was an old Adams driver from roughly 8 years ago that I bought for very cheap.

I consciously try not to change my gear too often and for the past 6 years I stuck with my Mizuno T-Zoid Pro irons but I got everything stolen out my trunk a few months ago :(
I extensively demo'ed out several irons to get the same feel for the iron and couldn't come with anything close. That iron set had a lot of sentimental value to me and I tried the MP-62's but in the end, I went with a set of Callaway X Forged. A bit more forgiving than the MP-62's and I'm taking a strong liking to the Project X 6.0 shaft it came with.

i change clubs every now and then... mostly drivers and wedges like most other people.

i'm not concerned with having the newest clubs out there, i dont buy into GD's obsolete list hype, i like to play clubs that look pretty at address, no matter how forgiving they are...

most of my clubs are old except the putter and wedges

RBZ stage 2 driver & 3 wood

Original AP1 4-GW

Vokey 54.10 & 58.04
