chime in if you have any input, it looks like the casio might offer more at a better price.

my main purpose for the camera will be to record my swing.

So... the only reason to get the Kodak Zi8 is to easily transfer your files over USB. The Zi8 has a built in USB plugin that means you can directly plug it into your PC once you have taken the video. The best frame rate is 60fps I think though. 60fps is good enough for swing analysis, but 210fps from the Casio is better. With the Casio you need a cord to plug into your PC, sometimes it isn't that convenient.

Looks like you can slow things down more with the Casio? Although I didn't quite understand what was meant by this:

The 1,000 frame-per-second High Speed Movie capabilities of the EX-FS10 is the next evolution of digital imaging. This feature allows you to easily shoot ultra slow-motion movies at speeds that were only available on super expensive, pro-level cameras. Settings for 210 fps, 420 fps and variable 30-210 fps are included with the camera. While 30-210 fps is selected, you can toggle the movie recording speed between 30 fps and 210 fps, giving you the ability to record at the speed that?s right for the moment.

Talks about 1000 frames-per-second in the first paragraph and then also talks about 210 fps and 420 fps. Maybe it does all three?

yeah, i think it does all 3, but the resolution goes down as the FPS go up. 210 would be the highest FPS i would use.

The 1000fps is for like a sliver of the image. Like 480x100. Something silly like that. 210 is great for golf swing speed.

I just got the Casio about 2 weeks ago. Was super excited, but have had this very strange problem where it skips a whole bunch of frames at seemingly random times in playback. It's actually quite aggravating, and if I don't get the issue resolved soon I'm sending it back. But when it does work, man is it sweet. 210fps is AWESOME, with pretty high resolution as well.

thrasher, I had this problem too. Have you tried switching the memory card? I had a older memory card in there the first time and it skipped continuously. Once I switched the memory card it seems to have gone away.

Take a look at the videos in post #7 http://thesandtrap.com/forum/threads...ht=#post445016

The face on view is with 420 fps. The target line view is with 210 fps. This is filmed with the Casio EX-FS10. Very good cam for golf.

is the face on 420 view grainy because of the low light? how hard is it to upload stuff to sites like youtube?

Uploading is easy.

It's grainy (pixellated) because the video was stretched/expanded quite a bit.

Yes, there was not enough light when the 420 was taken, but the quality is better on the 210 due to the higher resolution as well.

It's easy and fast to upload movies to youtube. There is a youtube function on the camera as well but I have not tried it yet.

Nope, don't think so. It's perfect for golf analysis. You can get a good price now cause the new models from Casio are coming soon.

New models? Wonder if they'll have better resolutions for existing fps?

the biggest reason why im not jumping on this is because the kodak has the option of a remote for controlling the unit...
