What is the word on Bridgestones irons, specifically the new J38's? I haven't hit bridgestones, but I may look into these.

Bridgestones are sweet. They arent quite as good as Mizunos or Srixons, but Id say theyre as good or better than anything Titleist, Callaway or TM makes.

Wow.. I hope you know what you are talking about. Bridgestone has been known for one of best forged blade irons. I had various blade irons over 20 years mostly Mizuno but had a chance to hit Bridgestone's J33 & J36 forged blades and some Miura set. J33 was the one of top among those. Softer than Mizzy, Good feedback, better workability.

I've tried a lot of stuff, and the J36s fit me like a glove. Anyone who says their quality isn't among the best either A) Hasn't hit them or B) Doesn't know what they're talking about (see point A).

Go hit them and see for yourself. I think you'll be quite surprised, especially given the low price point they tend to fetch if you're willing to take your chances on eBay.

There isnt a huge difference from Mizuno/Srixon to Bridgestone, but IMO there is a difference. The feel of the Bridgestones Ive hit are just a slight little bit more muffled.

I love my J33's. Swtiched from Ping S59 blades. The feel and easy control of the Bridgestone's are perfect. If your a decent ball striker, the are great!!!!!!!!!

Go hit them! I love my J36 pocket cavity backs. Not sure about the J38s unfortunately, but I also hit the Srixon and Wilson Staff and the J36 PCB was the best feeling iron for me. I shoot in the mid 80s- mid 90s depending on the day. The irons are pretty forgiving.

Just about to buy the J38 pocket cavity - have tried them and they are just great - sweet off the club and easy to hit. Was going to get the Ping Ansers but these seem better and much cheaper

Bridgestone from J33 irons on have been excellent. IMO they are too "clicky" for me, but that has nothing to do with playability and everything to do with my idosyncrascies.

I have loved every Bridgestone iron I've ever swung. Once my current set is ready for retirement, I will be picking up a set of j33b's if I can find them still.

Just tried the J38 Cavity Backs and they are awesome. The feel is so pure. Didn't think they could improve on the J36's I currently play, but they have. Bridgestone make the best irons going. So underrated.

Whoever says Bridgestone isn't as good as other popular companies is DEAD wrong. I would say Bridgestone outperforms Taylormade and Callaway easily, as for Mizzies and Titleist, I feel they perform about the same. My first set of forged irons were the J33 cavity backs. They had such a classic profile and a pure feel, I would still be playing them if they had some grooves left. I played them for 2 and a half years, and to me were better than any set of Taylormades ( I used a 2006 TP set as well, great club, but not near the J33's), and even Titleist and Mizuno at the time. The MP series really took me by storm, and the z series that Titleist had and now the CB/MB lines are unbelievable.

1) Bridgestone is the most underrated golf company in the biz.

2) They will always be looked at with squints and questions because of their name

3) People who hate on Bridgestone or say they have inferior equipment to any topline big manufacturer is ignorant, or has never hit a set of them.

4) To me, Bridgestones are a players type of club, they are not the easiest to hit (TRUST ME, even the CB's were pretty tight on the forgiveness), and people who do not swing the club well and do it day in and day out are going to struggle with them.

5) Even their woods and wedges are sick sticks.

Don't hate on what you don't know or can't play.

    • Was this the course with 9 blind shots in the first 9 holes?
    • Woof. Not good. 8:40 to 8:50, blah. I know the grip is turned a bit to the left in that part of the video (face is closed a bit), but… no. Not that.
    • Eh. You're tricking yourself. You can still miss right or left, and what you've created is a situation where you HAVE to miss (but the right amount) to make the putt. That's not for me.
    • I can see a point in this.  If you play a straigth 3 footer with a square face aiming at the hole, you can miss both ways, with a close face or an open one. If you aim rigth an close the face at impact (like tiger used to do), physically you can still miss left or rigth but mentally you are only missing left (closed face) and having only 1 miss can give you a boost in confidence. I putt this way on fade putts and aim left and open the face on draw putts, never liked the uncerteinty of putting square to the target.  I apply something like this on approach shots, only use low or high shots and for middle shots I use a low shot with more loft ot a high shot with less loft. This shots are always what they meat low or high, a middle one can go a little towards the high and the low depending on the AoA of each shot making it mentally a little more uncertain what is going to be.
