I posted a video about a week ago with my swing and got some tips. I pulled a still image from the video and was wondering what you guys thought about my posture, hands, club, etc at impact?

Your hips has not moved forward/enough forward.

Great photo!

Your hips are too far behind the ball and your chest should be over the ball at this point in the swing. It's like you are staying back just a bit and not transferring your weight with confidence.

I am more concerned with your bent left arm at impact.

Are you trying to learn the S&T; swing?

To those replying about position of upper body/hips... It looks to me like this photo is just before impact, as he is still loading into the ball and the club is just barely approaching it. Looking at his hands, this isn't quite impact, although the deflection of the shaft makes it appear close.

To the OP - Could you post a few frame later as the ball is taking off?

The hips should be well forward long before impact. They should start moving forward from the top of the backswing. Hips lead the arms, not the other way around.

Or better yet, post the video.

The bent left arm may well sort itself out with better extension of the spine, which is a result of the hips moving forward. He could've dropped the head a bit too, and bending the arm to compensate. So...yeah...video.

The arm's not bent. He's just got bigger guns than you. (Or me.)

Still looks to me like the left arm is breaking down a bit at impact.

Yeah, my arm is straight at impact (or as straight as it will go).

The frame I removed is just prior to impact so I am not as far forawrd as I would be, but I do see that I am lagging back, so I am glad you all mentioned that. I do not have any good frames after this. I use an original flip camcorder. It is great for what it is (and how cheap it was) but it does not have enough frames per second to get anything else right around impact. I got lucky that this frame happened to be so near the bottom of my swing. So now I suppose my question is....how do I get more weight forward without totally changing the feel of my swing?

Yeah, I have an overswing as pointed out in that video thread so my left arm bends too much during the backswing. I have been working on it. However, I still believe my arm is straight or very close at impact.

just wondering whats your swing speed? Seems kinda slow, nothing wrong with that but you could proabably swing a little harder.

6i at 85mph (Mizuno shaft optimizer). I do not think that is too slow, it recommended a stiff shaft based on that, tempo, and several other factors.

also is your lowest point of your arc in your swing after the ball, it seems you are pricking the ball up and the lowest point is under the ball.

oh ok, couldnt tell., that is what I swing too with a 6 iron.

My swing tempo is low, so I guess that is why it appears that way. And yes, if there is a divot it ends up behind or under the ball. I cannot get the feeling of swinging farther forward. I try the tee drill, but I will still hit the tee with the bottom of my swing coming under the ball.

Because his hips haven't pushed forward as far as they need to, yep.

try to put a tee a little in front of the ball, pay no attention to the ball but rather focus on putting your divot or grazing the grass underneath the tee. You will go through the ball and then graze the grass under the tee.

That wont teach him what will fix it. The hips have to move forward, that will take care of the swing bottom being too far back.
