I have a similar club (slightly different version, in a PVD black finish). I'm reasonably happy with it, but I wouldn't say it's terribly special. It has a very light feel to it, so I'd suggest trying to find one to test before buying it. When I bought it, I liked that feel, but it's a lot lighter than many of the high end wedges.

I had a lot of luck recently at a Play-It-Again Sports with some used wedges. I didn't get particularly high end ones, but I got two wedges in good shape for $25. They had a number of Vokey wedges ranging in price from $30 to $80, so depending on how much cash you do have, you might be able to find a gently used high end wedge if that's your taste. The cheap Vokeys were so beat up that they weren't worth the $30, but there were a couple in the middle of the range with quite a bit of groove left. The $80 looked practically brand new.

In the bag:

Great reviews on these clubs. A real bargain for the average guy. I say every bit good as the 100$ wedges out there. RBG is a great company to deal with. I've bought several of my clubs from them. Hybrids, putter, and Driver.

I just picked up the 60° version of the club Zeg uses for his 56°. Literally - yesterday morning. Went back to a friend's place, watched The Players, then went with my friend to the range. I hit maybe ten balls with this so far, and I love the way it feels. Of course, my other wedges are light, even with R300 shafts in them.

Nice, glad you like it.

I remember when I was picking up mine that I loved its feel on full swings. At the time, I was a much poorer ballstriker than I am now (not that I'm great now), but every shot with it seemed to take off. I did a side-by-side with, IIRC, one of the Clevelands and hit the Adams much better. The biggest problem I have with it is that the PVD coating pretty much instantly stripped off the bottom as soon as I took it in the sand...

The Adams Watson satin wedges are great wedges, especially for the money!

I played a set of them for two years before I built a new set of spin milled wedges this year. The Watson wedges are my backups now but would play them in a heartbeat.

They are excellent, affordable wedges. Glad to see the Watson Classic Satin wedges are back, I'd recommend them to almost anyone.

Oh, one thing... Adams grips suck. No nice way to put it. I've bought at least a dozen Adams clubs over the years and the factory grips all stink (literally and figuratively). The grips have a funky strong smell and are not as well finished as Golf Pride or Lamkin grips. First thing I'd do is consider replacing the grips. Other than that, I generally like Adams clubs.

I have the PVD black set (52, 56, 60) and I love them. They are on the lightweight side, as mentioned previously, but hasn't really been an issue for me. I got the entire set for $85 from Rock Bottom. One thing I will mention is the black face is not worth it in my opinion. My wedges have worn the black off the bottom of the club and the 56* has worn on the face due to sand. The black looks cool at first but I'd rather go with some satin finished wedges.

Agree with the Adams grip statement as well, although mine didn't have a smell to them. The grips are very thin feeling to me though so I matched them to my irons with some Golf Prides. Much better.

    • That's your right hand?
    • Hit some hard push draws last evening which surprised me a bit as have been hitting without much curve last month or so. Went to the range for a few minutes realized that right hand grip allowed the butt to climb up a bit higher in the palm. It seems this 'activates' a hand-elbow-arm structure that is more inclined to generate a grip twisting moment (like a screw driver). Anyway reset the grip by cradeling it at the bottom of my ring finger per first pic. The curve vanished instantaneously. Bottom pic example of what I WAS doing (bad). Top pic is what I need to be.
