So, I did a trade with a fellow 'Sand Trap' member my Ogio Schling bag (used) for a Ping Craz-e putter and an R7 Quad driver (both used). The trade was good, I think it worked out well for both of us. John was great to work with and got the stuff shipped out very fast. The driver was a little dinged up, so I gave it my own custom paint job. I'm a WSU grad, so I went with a Crimson / Gray color scheme - what do you guys think?

DUDE! That's awesome! I have a Team Effort Cougar bag, and a bunch of other WAZZu stuff in my bag, but that driver is totally original and cool. How did you do that? - You couldn't have just freehand-painted it on? Could you?

GO COUGS!

That's really cool... you did an amazing job. Did you use clearcoat?

...maybe I should paint mine Huskies purple

Cheers, Allan

Nice.

I played with a guy who had a custom paint job of a naked lady mural on the top of his driver. It was amazingly well done...distracting, but well done.

Whoever came up with the saying, "A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work", is a moron.

I sanded it using various grades of sand-paper and masked off then primed it with an automotive spray paint primer. I masked off the top of the driver and sprayed about 3-4 (light) coats of automotive spray paint that I found at my local auto parts store. The sharp line for the divider between the gray / crimson was done by masking with a hobby masking tape, it's thinner and designed to go around curves better.

The logos were done with some water-slide 'print your own decals' paper also from the hobby store. The paper I got was for laser printers, but I think you can find paper for ink-jet printers online, too. I hunted around on the internet and found vector art for the 'cougar head' and the 'Washington State' banner logo. I added the script 'cougars' part by auto-tracing a bitmap logo using my favorite drawing program (CorelDraw X4). I put a few coats of clear gloss (once again, automotive spray paint) over all the painted parts. It was a fun little project (my wife thinks I'm a bit crazy sometimes, maybe a little loopy from paint fumes ). I would do a few things differently next time, but overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm glad you guys like it. ... if anyone wants a custom paint job, PM me and let's talk.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
