My last round of last season I put up and 85, that was then my best round but I was still dissapointed, so after a frustrating start to the year this year I decided to take a couple lessons. Those 2 lesson I took helped dramatically. Today I put up a front nine 42 and a personal best back nine of 39. I also 3 putted 4 times so I feel it easily could have been a round in the high 70's. I started the back nine with a bogey on 10 and a double on 11 and then went 2 under on the last 3 holes and 1 under on the last 6. Its good to see all the work I have been putting in on the range is paying off. Breaking 80 this season seems like a definite possible goal. I just had to tell someone!

Just dont get complacent. Keep at it with the lessons and practice and you will break 80 this summer. The danger is thinking you got it all down.

Great round, congrats for sure.

I know the feeling, I broke 80 for the first time last month with a 39/39 for 78. Best feeling ever.

Congrats! It's so exciting when serious range time and short game practice starts to pay off.

My personal best is also an 81, which I've shot quite a number of times now. And I know the feeling with the putting failing. One of those 81's I shot back to back to back to back (yes, that's 4 in a row) three putt bogeys!

Way to finish strong too! During my most recent 81, a month ago or so, I came into 16 needing to par out to get a 78 and my first sub-80 round. Long par 4, 6i par 3, and easy par 5 to finish. I hit a solid drive on 16, then started feeling the pressure, thinking about those 70s, and skulled my 6i approach maybe 50 yards. Then I hit my next shot just off the green and failed to get the chip close enough for a 1-putt and double bogeyed. Then I hooked the shit out of my shot on 17 and bogeyed that. Par on 18 didn't make the 81 feel any better...

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
