Something tells me the low teens cappers that haven't broken 80 are much more consistent than I am...they shoot in the low to mid 80s regularly. I'll get there!

I truly hope you do. I've noticed that, for me, everything is in waves. I will go several weeks of low-mid 80s, followed by month of can't break 90, etc. However, that's one of the aspects I enjoy about the game.

I shot a 74 at Deltona Club in Deltona FL!

Congrats, JCP - picked a great place to do it, too, from what I hear and see. Deltona looks stunning in photos, not to mention tough!

Imagine you avoided most of those nasty bunkers. Cheers, DoctorK

Competitive golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half-inch course... the space between your ears.

I've only broken it once.

I too have broken 80 once. Shot a 79 on a really easy course. Lately I have been putting up 81-84 on some tough courses....like 140 rating. I am always astonished when I read some posts and say to myself "how the hell is his handicap so low"......I feel ya man.

Congrats on breaking 80! That is one of my goals for this year, too. Last year I missed a 3 footer on 18 for 79.

Keep it up! Hope the good play continues!

Doc, I found two of them...one led to a bogey, the other to a double bogey. It's a great course but the greens were in rough shape. I played from the #3 tees which slopes at 121. Not too tough, but moving back a teebox wouldn't have made much of a difference, I don't believe.

I have been playing 130-135 slopes, but figured I would play from the #3 tees with the other two that I was playing with, instead of having to play different tee boxes. These tees sloped to 121.

Where is a good place to play in Jacksonville, without spending a bunch (say 40-60 range)?

Thank you and good luck as well...did you know that 3 footer was to break 80? I didn't add up my score until the end. I knew it was a good round, but stuck to the routine.

I did know it was for 79, yes. I have a habit of adding up everyone's scores through 17 holes and then just adding in the last hole to get the final scores rather than waiting until after the round.

Congrats! Breaking 80 is a great milestone for most of the golfers out there. I remember doing it a few years back and I have done it a bunch of times since. Time to set a new goal of shooting in the 70's more than the 80's!!!

There are several courses you could play in the afternoon for under $35. I really like St. Johns Golf and CC as well as South Hampton. Just check out Golfnow.com.....TPC Sawgrass isnt bad either lol

Welcome to the club! It's not really that hard to do, is it?

At the time, it wasn't hard at all. Actually, since you brought it up, I am amazed at how easy it was. Things just went right! Now, the hard work will be to get consistent enough to do it again...and again...lol

I shot a 74 at Deltona Club in Deltona FL!

I would be going nuts! 74 is not only breaking 80, but really putting a dent in getting that 69. If you play the back the same way again you'd just have to shoot par the other 9 and there's your 69! 10 putts is fantastic! Now try and go out and break 80 again. Even a 79 will do :)

I've never broken 80, 39 once and 40 a handful of times though.

Best 9 holes: 35 (Trilogy at Redmond Ridge, 3163y, Par 35/70, 70.0/131)
Best 18: [b]77[b] (Palm Valley CC, 6545y, 71.4/126)
Notable career achievement: I have NEVER four-putt.

Thanks guys! That feels great to see! Knowing how much more work I have to put into my swing to become consistent is tempering the excitement, however, your enthusiasm has me very excited! I am putting together a practice plan to review with my instructor this week!

"in the zone" definitely feels great!
