I test-hit the CG15s. In my opinion, the CG12 and CG14 models are just as good - and cheaper - for the average golfer.

Also, earlier Mizuno T-series and Callaway X-Forged wedges are down around $70 now.

i'm in canada, we dont have that many options
1 year and thats about it
I might just get the TM wedge, its nice and sharp and has a pretty rough surface
Its just you hear so much marketing about the CG15s i just wanted to know if they lived up to the hype.
I've always hit CG wedges but none of the newer ones.

Ive always played the CG 12's Unti, my new vokeys. But the Cg 15's were ALOT better then they Cg12 and 14's. My dad brought the Cg 15's and I had a few hits with them around the green. They are great, one of the best wedges I have hit.

I recently upgraded my wedges to CG15's, and I couldn't be happier with them. I don't think you'll see a price drop in the very near future, so if you need new wedges, I would suggest just going for the CG15's right now, they really feel solid and crisp on every type of shot.

CG 15 also has a rough surface with what they call laser milling. CG 15 is pretty good. i wouldve got it as well if i hadnt been a bit low on cash. and i ended up going with the cg14 which gives me PLENTY of spin.

lol, I just got the ping tour w wedge yesterday, its great. I use to have a cleveland gunmetal 588 wedge. I just went to the golf shop and held every wedge they had and picked the one that felt the best to me.

Do the Laser-Milled faces shear balls even worse on full shots than regular, square grooves?

I'm a 13 handicapper. If I were in your shoes I would save some cash and go for the CG12's or 14's. I went with a CG14 52*. I found it to be a LITTLE more forgiving on those full shots that I use it a lot for. I went with CG12 56 and 60 as they had A LITTLE more feel. The 52 and 60 i bought brand new for a total of $120 and I got the slightly used 56 on the bay for $30. So $150 on all 3 wedges. I really think as a 15 handicapper you won't notice a huge difference between those and the 15's.

If you don't mind shopping on the Bay....I highly recommend 3ballsgolf as a seller. They are used a lot of the time but their 'fine' condition is near new and can be had for around $50. I bought my 56* CG12 from them. It was in 'very good' conditions and it was in better condition than I thought....and I got it for $30 shipped...... You can probably get 3 CG12 wedges on the Bay slightly used for maybe $120......

I've used the CG 15 for a few weeks, they spin like hell, but they also had a heavy feel and as not all my wedge play is pro like ..... I had some problems with side spin.

I tend to cut and fade my longer wedge shots for extra bite and had lots of shots that side backspinned...... in other words the ball landing at the green, two bumbs and then side "backspin" to the right 3-4 ft. which was a strange thing to see. About a 2 weeka ago I bought two Vokey wegdes 52.08 and 58.08 ( I doubted about getting the 58.12 but as I am no digger, and most of our bunkers are of heavy sand the 58.08 was better for overhere).

2010 is the last year Vokey is allowed to produce the current grooves, still they can be used by amateurs till 2024 ..... I think there might be a run on those last wedges by the end of this year or maybe even earlier.

I use my 52.08 also from the sand for longer shots and having two wedges that can be opened in the same way did make a difference for me.

I tried my buddies..... 52 degree CG15 wedge a few times the other day. They might be the sweetest feeling wedge shots I ever hit. My Vokey feels dead compared to the CG15. I was tempted to steal it outta his bag....lol Pretty cool looking grooves also.

    • I imagine there might be a fine, that's what the PGA Tour does for bad behavior.  Not sure if the USGA has any kind of Code of Conduct that would address this.
    • I've used this for planning, good information about courses, regions, transport, and lodging. Amazon.com  I prefer to stay in B&Bs, and have enjoyed playing many non-famous courses.  Hiring a car for many weeks is likely to be pretty expensive, but train travel is possible between regions.  I don't know about taxis for getting to courses, but that might be cheaper than hiring a car.  I certainly recommend staying in St Andrews for a while, there are 6 courses within the St Andrews Trust, and a shuttle will take you from one to the other, not including the Castle Course.  Beyond that, there are a dozen or more good courses within an hours drive, including Carnoustie and Kingsbarns and a bunch of lesser-known but fabulous courses.   Good luck, Scotland is a fabulous place!
    • I am looking to do a solo trip to Scotland, maybe 3 to 4 weeks, not golf every day but see some of the country in between. Looking more for convenience of travel to courses  than any particular courses. Any help on  best location, courses, accommodations appreciated.
