the 3w is a 13.5 w stock EXSAR Stiff shaft (plays quite stiff actually)
hit it mostly from the tee, rarely from the deck as I have a 4w i hit from 220-235 from the deck
any further than that, and im laying up

picked it up on ebay for $50 BRAND NEW shipped to me, from the bay
cant see me kickin it out of the bag anytime soon

I play a cleveland launcher with a gold fit on...will be exchanging it soon with an R9...it's great off the deck but is lacking in distance/feel.

What year? Might be the shaft - mine is a 15* with their Red S shaft. That thing friggin' goes!!

I've used the original Callaway steelhead, the Sonartec 2.5, the Adams insight bul and am now using the Cleveland XLS. If you can put a good swing on it, the Sonartec is a monster ... for mere mortals I'm really liking the XLS.

Not what you ask for, but a 3W can be harder than you thought, while the current 5W is more like a 4W was like in the old days. The 18* 909 F3 is great from tee or deck .....

Have a Mizuno F-50 15* right now. All in all, I like it. Its a fairly easy club to hit well and even when I dont hit it perfect I still get a decent result. Im planning on replacing it this winter with another Mizuno, most likely an MP-630.

I'm still in honeymoon stage with my Titleist 909F3 15* FW. Definitely better than the Callaway X Tour 3 wood with steel shaft :)

So far, the only 3w I've had luck hitting consistently has been the one in my sig. I've tried two different Titleist's, a Adams, a Cleveland and a Taylor Made with no success...AT ALL! I've been able to work the ball relatively well with the Nike and at times can really get after it with a good turnout.

Good luck in your searches!

I use a Ping G15 and actually hit it better off the deck than off a tee. I use my hybrid Ping as a replacement for my 3/4 iron, but haven't found a hybrid that can give me the distance of the 3 wood.

I play a Nike Dymo2 15*, that I absolutely love(my signature says so). I played a Callaway Steelhead until a few months ago(10 years in the bag). I never thought that club would leave my bag, the 5 wood is still in there. I wanted to try some newer clubs since I have had success with a newer driver, the Nike won me over. What I like most about the Dymo, is the sole. It is shaped and deep, making it ideal for the fairway, rough, and tee. I hate fairway woods that have essentially a flat sole and shallow face. If I wanted to play a hybrid, I would get a hybrid.

In my  Warbird Hot stand bag:

 NP2 3H,  DCI 990 4-PW,  Forged + 54/12,  RAC 58/8,

Classic #1,  NXT Tour or  Burner TP

I play an R9 for a 3 wood and hit it very good off the deck. I also carry a burner 5w and that thing is EASY to hit high and long. I'd suggest the burner with a softer tip shaft... can't go wrong and they're cheap right now.

In the Bag (right now)...

I play an old Callaway Bertha S2H2. It will be quite a long time before that club comes out of my bag. It has the most predictable ball flights of any club in my bag and decent distance too. I also had it shortened ( i'm only 5'4" ) which likely helps the control and predictability.

In my bag:

Nike SQ DYMO 10.5
Big Bertha 3 Wood
Big Bertha 3-10 IADAMS Tom Watson Classic 54,58 and 64 Wedges Nike Oz 5 Putter/Wilson Staff ( not sure model, bought it in second hand store ) Ball: Bridgestone E6

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I may have to go try another F3 but with different shafts.

    • I watched this video of his last night: I don't hate him like @boogielicious apparently does and thought this was a pretty good premise so I gave it a shot.  Not the worst thing in the world and I especially liked the premise.  He's got a lot of air to fill by himself, which he isn't great at, but in doing so, you get some decent insight into how his brain works while setting up shots/putts.
    • So driver is longer than all the other clubs and gear effect plays a bigger part with driver than anything else. If you're hitting it out of the heel it could slice even if you have the face square. Could try some foot spray or impact tape and check that. Other thing is if the shaft is different in how it flexes or how flexible it is it could be affecting your swing somewhat. Driver also has the straightest face, so while with a 4 iron it might fade, with driver that can wind up being a slice with the same face angle at impact.
    • Yeah I have taken lessons. I also got clubs fitted in like 2011 ish. My driver and wedges aren't from that set though.    1. I'm just not sure why I can't seem to get the face back to square. I don't have that problem with my other clubs. Sure the longer ones a miss tends to be a slice, but I don't need to make a grip change to only sometimes hit the ball reasonably straight.   2. I think there is a bit of inaccuracy there. The number I have in my head is like 195 for my 5 iron. 4 iron also definitely has more variance than all my other irons, but 210ish is about right for non mishits.
    • Only if they call you Poindexter!
    • For multiple reasons, including "why should anyone else care to continue to search for someone else's ball?" No thanks.
