16 handicap with that swing, time to go to the putting green and short game area ;b

hmmmmmm i'll take that as a compliment as far as the swing is concerned. On the course I usually get complimented on my short game as far as chipping/pitching is concerned. Putting is hit or miss......... reason for my high handicap, i have "blow up" holes. I think i'm my own worst enemy on the course, a bad drive, a bad iron shot, and i kind of fall apart on the hole because i'm just chastising myself mentally. I've been focused on my irons and woods because i have "consistency" issues as far as contacting the ball is concerned. All of which i've been working hard on fixing.

I'm with you 16! I'm calling BS...looks like an 8 to me. The difference btw the city swing and the country swing is huge. The country swing looks very solid. Those blow up holes must be wild.

Hahahaha, I appreciate the compliment, it's very encouraging!!! The blow up holes........are an understatement. They really are wild, in a bad way. The "city" swing is before i sought professional help (about a month ago). Quite frankly I got tired of trying to fix my swing faults on my own. I wasn't getting the distance I felt that I should be getting, I felt like I was scooping the ball, I felt like i was "winging" it on every swing. So I found a great instructor and the swing at the "country" range is the result of a month's work with the instructor (an hour a week) and a lot of practice, and i mean a lot of practice. But really, a lot of the credit goes to the instructor for moving me in the right direction.

Looks like you've got some really nice positions going up and down to the ball. But, from this view, it seems something weird happens with your left arm "breaking" in either at impact or right after. Check the relative position of the elbow and wrists below.



Love to see a face-on view to get a better idea what is going on.

Did you find an instructor you like at the piers? I have taken lessons there, but I would prefer to take some lessons off of real grass.

I didn't take lessons at chelsea piers. I specifically wanted to take lessons and hit off of real grass and not mats, for obvious reasons. If you have a car and are willing to drive out over an hour into NJ, I highly recommend the David Glenz Golf Academy. I first attended a one day golf clinic there last year and then spent the next year trying to take what i learned during the clinic (my current instructor was one of the instructors at the clinic) and improve my swing on my own but finally threw in the towel this summer when I realized that it would just be less frustrating and more efficient to take private lessons than to learn and apply it on my own via "trial and error". I couldn't have made a better decision. Not sure if its against forum rules here to give out instructor names but if you're interested, pm me and i'll let you know who i've been specifically working with at the David Glenz Academy. He's been great, the right person for me, at the right time, and has put me on the right track to lowering my scores, and I couldn't be more pleased with the instruction that he's provided to me so far. I only wished i had the time and money to get more than just one lesson from him a week :)

I've posted an updated, current swing video taken a week ago (22 August 2011) in my original post for this thread.  Could some of you swing gurus take a look and let me know what you like/dislike, and key areas of improvement?  BTW, I've been working with my swing instructor every other week for the past 4-5 months and I plan on continuing to work with him until i go broke!!!  :)  Thanks!!!

It's really hard to pick out meaningful details without the benefit of slo-mo, but your backswing is a thing of beauty. Nice work there.

      As a supporter of the European team even though I chose to live in the US, this is kind of good news. I'm pretty close to Bethpage, but won't be going at these prices. Neither will the crazy drunk NY sports fans who would have made this a very difficult place to play as a Euro. The tickets will go to the city types who are entertaining clients and don't care about the money. Many of them are going to sit there and watch, not get all raucous. I am not dumb enough to believe that this is going to be like a Sunday afternoon stroll in the park for the Euros, but I think it will be significantly more subdued as a result of the prices. Even at $250 I would probably have been watching on the TV anyway so no real skin in the game.

      First, it is on free TV. NBC is free to anyone with an antenna, and is on almost any TV in the U.S. with a minimal amount of effort. Charging "a bargain price" would be incredibly dumb. They charged $750 and the event sold out almost immediately. You could better argue they should have charged MORE, not less. What happens if you charge less: ticket scalpers buy up even more of the tickets because they see value: if tickets were $250, they'd clearly have sold for $1k or more on the secondary market. That's tremendous value. Fans would end up paying the same or more, or just not being able to go. Sure, a few who happened to be online at the precise moment on a fast connection and didn't fumble with their credit cards might have gotten tickets for $250, but the secondary market and ticket brokers would have scooped up the vast majority with automated processes and bots and scripts, then re-sold them later on. This way, fans get to purchase the tickets, and the PGA is earning that revenue, not the secondary ticket brokers. Econ 101. Supply and Demand. Nope.

      Edit - the link has no title, but basically Tiger wants $5 million for each US player to “donate to charity”   They could put the Ryder Cup on free to air tv, and charge the fans a bargain price to get in.  If you have to  give the players $60 million, that’s why the tickets are $750.

      P7TWs all day IMO. Especially because they're already fit for you. And it sounds like you have an interest in buying/selling so using the Vapor Pros would only decrease their value.
