That explains my frustration level right now with the handicap chairman at my club! My goal over the last few months has been to get below a 2.4 so I can register for US Am qualifying. I finally posted enough low scores to get me there, but I think a timing issue is holding me back right now. I'll explain the situation.

So the cut off date for the June 1 handicap revision was May 31. That means a score posted on May 31st should still count towards the new revision right? I posted my score around 3:30 on Monday, but then when the revision came out it was not included in it. Without that score, my index is a 2.7, with it, it would be 2.0, low enough to register.

Curious as to how many spots were left at the qualifying sight I want, I called the USGA to find out and the lady told me there were 77 people registered already for 84 spots. The next handicap revision won't come out for another couple weeks and by that time I'm sure the remaining spots will be taken up. Herein lies my dilemma.

I called the Norther Cal Golf Association to see if they could do anything about it, but the guy said the scores weren't reported until like 6 AM on June 1st, thats why it was not included on this months revision and they can't change anything. But I posted my score around 3:30 the day before? So did the person who is supposed to forward scores from my club do it a day late cause the holiday or is this just normal to not have a score from the last day included? If this guy can't revise my handicap and I miss out on a remaining spot, I will be PISSED! AHHHHHH!!

Vent over!

Not all associations allow online posting. Mine does, and I know that if I had been in the OP's position, I'd have bypassed the club computer. I post about half my scores online.

If your association allows, you can go to GHIN.com and post your scores there. The association I belong to REQUIRES us to post any scores NOT made during club competition either at the club we play or online... any scores made during club competition are posted by our handicap chairman.

To post online, you'll need your GHIN number and your last name. If your association doesn't allow online posting... I'm sure the system will kick back a message saying as much.

Luckily I can print off an official HI card anytime I need it for a tournament. I pay $14.95 per year for the online service.

In Wisconsis I can either post at the course or on the wsga.org site which links to the ghin system. When I lived in California years ago I think I posted either directly on the ghin site or on a California association site (I don't recall exactly).

Does the qualifier site require your maximum index to be in the system by the registration deadline or by the time you play? I would call them back and ask your question in a different way, sometimes how you ask someone a question will trigger them to think in a different way instead of just giving their canned responses.

If that doesn't work out could you enter a different qualifier with a later registration? It's been over a decade since I looked into how the amateur qualifiers worked out. I wish I was in your situation.

I know that when I post scores at my club's handicap computer there is a delay of when the score appears in my GHIN index of recent scores. When I enter scores online (my club allows this) the score appears immediately. The club system must up load any scores entered once a day or periodically? I try to post scores at my club because I think it looks better that way, but often times their system is down or I don't take the time to go back to the clubhouse and then I just enter them online when I get a chance.

My index needs to be below 2.4 at the time of registration with the USGA. Right now I'm not able to register because its 2.7, but if the score had been included it would be 2.0. There is another qualifying sight near me thats later, but I'd much rather get into this one. The handicap chairman guy is working on it, so hopefully he'll be able to revise the scores and I can sign up in the next day or two before the site fills up.

Be a shame to get locked out over 3/10ths of a stroke, hope you get it worked out. At least you have a backup option if your preferred plan fills up. Good luck and post a thread of how it went if and when you do get in.

I need to look up when and where the local events are near me, I'd at least like to go spectate while I'm getting my game figured out and under control.

Must have been some score to drop you from a 2.7 to a 2.0 all on its own...

With a 2 handicap you might have a really hard time getting in the open i know 80% of them are at least scratch. Just saying but good luck if u can get in
