So a guy I played with had a nickent 3 wood that he said he loved. I was looking them up trying to find the one he had and it doesnt look like the new ownes that have green on them. Anyone know of a nickent 3 wood that is good? It had some weight on the bottom of it or something?

Was it the 3DX?

Lots of love for Nickent by many folks (I love the Evolver 4DX driver). See this recent thread:

They've been bankrupt for a year, so you can find great deals on the web on their products. I can't speak personally about their FW's, but in general most including me think they made top notch equipment. And each "generation" of equipment tried to improve upon the previous, i.e. 4DX newer/better than 3DX, etc., so if you want to try one out I wouldn't worry about trying to get the exact same older model you saw. FW's in general don't get upgraded by folks (including pro's) as often as other clubs because most try to use them as "dependable" clubs, where squeezing out a few extra yards isn't as important as the psychologic trust in "an old friend".

I just ordered a set of nickent irons from Dallas Golf. I think I saw there woods were available too. Try them.

I have a 4DX 3 utility wood that I love and a 3 DX 3 ironwood as well. Got them both cheap and they are excellent clubs, very easy to hit. I actually tee off with my 3 wood most of the time because I hit it much straighter then my driver and still plenty long.

I have a couple of Nickent 3DX RC ironswoods that I thnk are good clubs, even though I'm about to trade them in/get rid of them.

For me, I just like looking down at a hybrid that looks a little bit more like a fairway wood in shape - e.g. TM Burner Rescue, G10, etc. Guess it makes me feel more confident or something.

Aside from that, they've been easy to hit and have been quite good overall. I think Nickent makes some quality stuff - and that opinion seems to correspond to the opinions of others as well (at least from most of what I've read).

Find them if you can, but they're not miraculous or anything - more of a cult following because they were decent clubs that are no longer made.

I have the 4dx driver, and love it. Absolutely love it. Last 3 rounds I've used it I have hit 12 of 14 fairways each time, and it goes a friggen mile!

I think they made pretty good stuff that was pretty economical when compared to most of the stuff on the market.

I bought a 5dx Hybrid that I think is pretty damn ugly, but it is very easy to hit and has some great distance on it. I bought another head online that I am trying to find a good shaft to pair with it.

I wouldn't say they are amazing stuff, but I think they attempted to push some tech features before that was the norm.

I would say check them out as you could find a good club for cheap, but the same could be said for a lot of used clubs from many brands.
