So I went ahead and won a bid on some used Prov V1X balls...36 to be exact. Described as 18 mint and 18 near mint. It is just off a guy not one of the big company that specialize in this. So I knew to keep my expectations a little lower. After getting the balls...and using a grading system heavily favored in his advantage, here is what I came up with:

Mint – 9
Near Mint – 8
Average – 12 (these have cart path rash, and missing cover)
Shag bag – 6 (all 6 of these have cuts in them)
NXT – 1 (this is not even a Pro V1 at all)

He offered to take the balls back...but expects me to pay the shipping. Am I missing something here? Like I said, even the balls I graded as "average" I would put in my shag bag. Heck, one was not even a Pro V. Why should I pay the shipping to return the balls?

I would suggest opening a case against him for product not as described. And him making you pay shipping is ridiculous. If you must pay shipping Id recommend telling him you are keeping the 9 mint balls as compensation.

OK...one more question. He has now agreed to refund my money and pay the return shipping. He says he will do this once he receives the balls back. Is this right? This would be my first return via ebay.

Thank you for the info.

I think you,d be safe doing that because PayPal won,t release his money until you give him a possitive feedback. I believe it falls under the buyer protection policy.

I'm not sure I'd front the guy the money for the return shipping. Make sure you document

everything .

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I've never had a bad experience using EBAY buying used balls (sorry to hear that you did though) I guess there are always some shady dealings out there....as far as I know (seeing I've never had any issues with anything I sold or bought on EBAY) but my Wife's Best Friend bought a DS game for her Son and it wasn't exactly what the listing said and it had a few nicks and all that, so she e-mailed the guy and what not and he had thousands of transactions so he sent her back the money and allowed her to keep the DS (he stated that he had to many dealings to get bad feedback so he'd rather do it that way)

Agreed. Also if you want to buy used balls. Go to a legit online store. golfballnut.com is a pretty good site

    • I'll play in anything besides lightning. The only weather I haven't really played in is a cold rain, because it's unusual to have cold rain here. It just snows instead. Here are some of the highlights (lowlights?) of what I've played in: 40 degrees, probably 30 mph winds gusting to 50-60 mph. I played fast because no one else was on the course! 32 degrees, on and off snow flurries. 100+ degrees (fortunately, no humidity). My motto currently is if courses are open, I'm playing. I'm sure this will change as my kids get older, and I have more time.

    • I voted "warm weather golfer", but I'd expand my acceptable conditions a bit.  If its over about 40 to start, and not raining, I'm OK.  (My wife uses the 50/50 rule, it should be over 50 degrees for over 50% of the round)  If its 60+ and a light rain, I'll play.  I have the gear to play in all conditions, waterproof jackets, pants, hat, rain gloves, winter golf gloves, thermal underwear, all of it, but I've become a bit more selective in my old age.  Also being retired, I CAN be more selective, I have more days available to play.  And of course for competitions or golf trips, I'll play in almost any weather.

    • Not sure if this is good or bad but I get the feeling I'm close to my ceiling if not there already as far as wedge swing is concerned.
