Just wondering what's the most holes you've played with one ball? I have a Wilson Smartcore ball that I have been using for 43 holes now(and yes that's every shot), I hope to hang on to 'er. She's beat up pretty bad, but hanging in there

I don't know what my personal records are, but I tend to keep balls going longer than most. I hit it hard and I spin the ball, but the covers on my golf balls don't really tear. And if they do I'm not going to not play a ProV just because the paint is scuffed. I did however caddy for a member-guest tournament and my player used the same exact ProV for the entire 72 holes. That was pretty cool.

That's impressive, I've never bought expensive balls just because I don't want to hit a $4 ball in the water/woods, but now I'm finally at the level where a dozen balls would last me a while, so I might invest in some "better than Wilson" balls, although I must say, they're not bad

I've made 18 once or twice. I swear I play courses that eat balls.

I bought one dozen balls to start last year, and I just recently had to buy more. Should I be losing more balls?

I try not to lose balls, it = strokes. I've just wondered because the guys I play with lose balls all the time and I might lose one every now and then, nothing like they do though.

Even when I bought my new balls, I still had like 3 or 4 that I hit up into the woods because they were so beat up.

I've probably played 50 or more holes with the same ball. I play expensive balls, but I will almost never stop playing one due to it being too banged up. I saw an experiment somewhere where someone tested a ball that was literally split by a lawn mower or something versus a brand new ball of the same model and there was basically no difference in performance...I'm too lazy to find the link.

If I'm playing a course I know well, I won't lose a ball very often. Sometimes when I go to a new course for the first time with my $4 golf balls and lose a few I feel like a real dumb---, but I just can't get myself to play anything that won't spin and check up like a good ball will.

When I was playing Maxfli rocks I could play a couple rounds with one ball. I just switched to Topflight Gamers, so I am losing a lot more into the woods on mis-hits. The spin that the Gamer provides, in comparison to my old ball, means I am losing more than I have in a long time. If a ball makes it through 9, it gets retired and goes into my practice basket for chipping at home.

I think the most I have played with a ball is two full rounds, which is an accomplishment for me because being a former baseball player I got that slice that shows up now and again. I think those two rounds were with a noodle and it held up really well if I remember right....

I've not really had the chance to compare lately, but I think I'll basically use balls as long as possible... not like I have a ton of money to invest, but I did pick up a nice 50 AAAAA Nike Karmas, so it won't hurt if I lose/retire a few. ;)

I start every round with a new ball and usually pull it after 18 holes, and put in the shag bag, so I'm not sure... but I know I've gone 3 or 4 rounds without dunking one in the water or hitting OB

The original question is a good one. I've used the same ball through a round of 18 several times, but each round was a different ball that I started with. Never really kept track of how many rounds I played using the same ball each round. I'll dot-mark a ball & see how many rounds I can get out of it(not counting it being lost in a hazard) before it's too beat up to continue.

21 holes. My home course has three holes in which water is presented and you really need to hit a precision shot in order to avoid it. One hole is a peninsula green so I usually lose a ball to that drink 25% of the time.

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
