Tees .....

I have been using wooden tees as long a I can remember, as the club I started paying golf no plastic tees were allowed, because lost tees would damage the mowing machines.

But today with the large 460 cc drivers ..... I kind of keep buying packages of the long wooden tees.

I surfed the W3 and found there are some less friction tees that would add 10 yrds and last many rounds.

Any thoughts ?

The Zero Friction tees wont add 10 yards but they will last longer and they are biodegradable (unlike other plastic ones). They are more expensive though and they are annoying when the ground is hard because they bend. Because I play in the fall and spring when it is cold, i now stick to the Wooden ones. I used to use Zero Friction, but they bending when the ground is hard is just too annoying. my wife uses these things called "brush tees". They are kind of unorthodox, but she got a 3 pack of them for christmas this past year and is still on her first one...she plays about 2 times monthly at least. They are virtually impossible to lose and break, so they seem they would save quite a bit of money on tees. She won't let me use hers, so this is all speculative of course :)

Like my friend told me every year when the NEW IMPROVED came out adding 10 yards to your game, we would be driving the ball 600-700 yards by now.

Sometimes I do hit off the grass? I hit my iron into the ground to build up a little hill and place the ball on top of that.

I will use whatever tee I find in the ground. As long as it keeps my ball about the same height.

Usually if you hit a good shot on a Par 3 you will "tear the piss" out of the tee box. Thats why there is a box full of sand next to the tee. You do what works for you, and Ill do what works for me.

I use plastic tees. I bought a small bag about 2 years ago. Still have not run out. I was tired of breaking the wood ones. Most of the time, I'll play an entire round with the same tee.

Have you ever played at a course with any decent players? Seen events on TV? You are supposed to "tear the piss out of the tee box", that is why they have a large area that they move the boxes around on.
