I can't regularly justify spending 65 bucks for Nike or UnderArmor golf shorts and the shirts aren't any better. What are some (much)lesser known brands with similar quality, material and color scheme?

JC Pennys and (i think) Kohls has the PGA brand of golf polos. I find them to be a good deal, when they are on sale. And they seem to be onsale quite a bit. They have some nice color selections and are made of the dry/mositure wicking material.

My wife has picked me up a ton of Nike shirts from Ross for $13-$15 - just as good as the ones that I spent $40 on.

She has picked up shorts for me at about the same price but they arent always as plentiful.

went to walmart yesterday just to pick up some dickies for work right quick, was walking out and saw some golf shirts on the rack that if they didnt have a tag i would have easily thought they could have been the 50-70 dollar nike/under armour/ name brand shirts you see at golf galaxy or whatever... so i looked at the price, 12 BUCKS, picked up 2 of em, they're same exact material and style just really cheap, know where im getting my shirts from now on.

most all department stores have been having good sales, probably due to the economy. I have found $10 polos at Kohls that are satisfactory. Dockers has their shorts on sale for about $20 and have come out with some nice plaid patterns.

Macy's, JC Penny's, Kohl's, TJ Maxx. The PGA Tour brand is alright, but I usually go to TJ Maxx and buy Nautica brand stuff. Nice polos for about $20.

If you want the 'name brand' stuff but don't want to pay for it, try an outlet mall if their is one near. Or online at places like golflocker.com and/or tgw.com. Both will have closeouts of prior year stuff at great prices. Even doing a google search for 'Nike dri-fit golf' will come up with plenty of places that are selling at closeout.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Greg Norman polos and shorts are at Sams Club for about 20 bucks each. I haven't seen a softer moisture wicking fabric yet. Also, they ain't shinny.

I second the Marshall's option. Recently, I've found a TON of nice stuff there for some VERY fair prices. Everything from Nike and Adidas to Nautica and Polo.

My favorite option is to hit up the IZOD outlet in Tannersville, PA. The stuff there is extremely nice and when they've got their deals going on, you can pick up a bunch of stuff for a real low amount. I'd venture to guess that you could find an outlet center within 70 miles or so of your house. The one in Tannersville, PA has a stores for Nike, Adidas, IZOD, Under Armor and a butt load of other places.

I hate going there with my wife because we easily add $1000 to our credit cards but, we don't have to shop for a year or more after a normal trip.

These are the only two places I will buy golf clothes. They have a lot of the major golf companies apparel and you can not beat their prices.

Good suggestions, the outlet thing hadn't even crossed my mind. I was thinking more along the lines of off brands at online retailers but I might not need those. Thanks.

My fiance and I would go there from East Stroudsburg where we were going to college. Now that we graduated we probably won't be up that way, but they had nice outlets with some good prices.

The Tanersville outlets didn't cross my mind. I think I may go up there soon. It's only about an hour or so from my house. Probably worth it.

These are about an hour from my house, as well, maybe less. They're called The Crossings and you're really missing out and huge deals on just about everything if you don't at least check it out. Puma, Nike, Adidas, etc for ridiculous prices. I think I'm making a trip there in a few weeks.
