So when I call the local golf shop they all tell me to ask this pro at my local course for lessons. He is a PGA pro and manages the golf course but I called him today and he is booked with kids tournaments etc until July 14, so I would have to wait awhile for him. I know there are other people who give lessons for the same price but I just dont know what to do. Everyone recommended this guy, i dont know if the other people suck or not, lol.

You can try this link: http://www.pga.com/profinder/

It won't necessarily tell you who you will work with, or learn from, the best (only meeting them and going through at least one lesson with them would do that), but it will at least give you a list of pros in your area to start working from.

I have taken lessons from three different instructors over the last two years. I started out with a local (non PGA pro) at the driving range. He had some basic ideas and turned me onto the book (Hogan's five fundamentals) and started me down a path of improvement. And while he didn't especially break down my swing and fix anything, he did make me realize the importance of tempo, posture, etc. The next pro I visited was a golf galaxy pro and I visited them because of a special they were running at the time ($99 for 3 video lessons) and I have been back now for several lessons and continue to visit him about 1 or 2 times a month. I am very happy with the progress we are making, although I feel at times the swing he is working with me to develop is a little unorthodox. It is however, very simple and compact and I have had repeatable results. They use video and post the videos online so often times they are ready for viewing by the time I get home from the lesson. I have a website that I can download the swing lessons from and review them at any time.

Also, I wouldn't discount the use of this website. While it certainly will not replace a qualified pro, if you have some quality video of your swing, people will usually offer advice and suggestions on it. Please remember that the advice comes without a cost so you have to expect that some of it will be more valuable than the rest.

Finally, there are websites out there that allow you to do video based lessons of your swing. Basically you take your swing and video tape it, and an instructor will analyze your swing, offer suggestions, break it down in slow motion, point out mistakes and provide tips and drills for improvement. I have never used these types of services, but in our digitally connected world, it sounds like an excellent way to connect the world’s best teachers with the world’s best golf readers (by that I mean fellow members of The Sand trap, of course)

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

By no means is it a guarantee, but to me a pro who is solidly booked up is likely booked up for a good reason.
