Try these out Bridgestone e6 or e7 or B-330RX or Pinnacle Gold Precision.
To me they are soft around the green and feel good off irons but give me the distance I like.
I won a long drive hole at recent scramble with the 330RX of 308 yards 2 weeks ago =)

Well then you have an excellent sense of feel compared to many, many others. However my point for buying inexpensive balls was b/c he, and probably you also, have little ball control and most likely loose at least a sleeve of balls per round. So it mite be much more economical to buy inexpensive balls. I know that for myself at that level I was just hitting the ball and I didn't know how to spin it or shape the ball intentionally so Top Flights were great at that time for me.

Actually I have pretty good ball control and I rarely lose a golf ball, let alone a sleeve, during any given round of golf. There IS a difference in balls and generalizations that higher handicap players should just play any cheap ball on the market because they're not good anyway serve no useful purpose. Despite what you happen to think, many of us higher handicappers DO know the diffrerence between balls in terms of feel, control, and distance.

I've played Callaway HX Bite, Top-Flight 5000XL, and Wilson Soft-Core balls. I couldn't tell the difference between them, but this is my first year of golfing. I would prefer a ball with a softer feel on the greens, but I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on them right now. I prefer playing the Wilson balls because they're under $0.75 a ball right now. I have a ton of lost and found balls that are better quality, but I don't like using them because I hate being the guy that doesn't know what ball he is using when asked.

But when I do get better, I would like to stick with Callaway simply because I like the way the hexagon dimples look.

I would advise pinnacle gold fx long just for the extra yardage off the tee. Contrary to the previous post they will make a difference with your Handicap simply because they wil get you closer to the green on approach maybe 5 yards maybe 10. The balls cost 1$ a pc at Walmart. Ive hit them farther on average than any other ball, but they are hard to stop on the green when your 60 yards and in. If you get better which I hope you do, you will change your preference Im sure.

Whatever you do, don't blame the ball.

If you want a cheap premium ball, try Taylormade TP LDP RED.

agreed, that is until you know the difference, then you'll be playing a Titleist the rest of your golfing days

Which version is the one for me? Can you send me a sleeve of each?

Ahhh ya, well for you sean_miller I recommend a nice cork centered, rubber band wound, leather covered ball, to go with your persimmon 2w .... this would be a perfect fit for your major lack of golfing knowledge and skills, lol

Based on your description, I think I've hit that ball - it had "Pro V1" stamped on it.

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
    • Day 17: did mirror work while watching TV. Working on wrist feels.
    • Day 315 - 2025-08-12 Got a little work in before Juniors showed up for one of their Summer Sessions.
    • I always knew it as high but never that distance was 90-95% of rating! That has always played to my advantage. I never have but I could totally vanity cap myself by playing **super** long courses that are otherwise super easy. There was one course like that in LA that I used to play that helped my cap like that. The back tees were close to 7k yards, but otherwise the course was incredibly easy. Wide open, misses almost always had a play at the green from the adjacent hole, flat greens, not challenging green complexes, etc. But it got a high rating because it was so long. So I could swing hard, spray and pray, and score well (relative to my handicap).
    • Do need a special ferrul. Thanx 😉
