hehe I played EagleGlen in the summer when the salmon had already spawned and were basically floating down the river that runs through the course...definitely something i've never seen before or since, but definitely a great time...coulda sworn I was going to pop up a tee shot and clang it off an F-16 when those were coming in...

Sweet....We used to play it 5 to 6 times a week. Yeah isnt that amazing. Some big fish. Ship creek......is the name of the stream through the course. Did you get a shake when the fighters started taking off?? Not a bad course for being under snow for 9 months eh.....lol Thanks for replying always cool to talk to someone that played at a course I played on..

I am going to play at Salem Glenn in NC tomorrow. It is an Arnold Palmer course. I didn't think I would get to play it anytime soon, but a buddy of mine gets to play for free... so that includes me. I'll post how it was afterwards. I am pretty excited.

I have played Highland Links here in Nova Scotia, it is about 2 hours from my house and we would play every weekend. It was ranked the #1 public course in Canada a few years ago.

For me, my best course played was "Tour 18". Its a place here in Dallas that has 18 replica holes. Its very well maintained and beautiful. Problem is it was Feb and was in upper 30s and like 30mph winds that day. Im gonna go back this spring/summer for sure.

Has some really cool ones like Winged Foot, Sawgrass, Augusta National, etc...

Best courses I've ever played are:

Hawk Pointe (private club near my house in New Jersey) and The Architecs which is public, but real expensive, also near my house. The Architecs has each hole modeled after another hole on a very famous course.

Old Works. Consistantly rated in Golf Digest's top 100 public courses. Jack Nicklaus design. It's built over an old coal mine and the bunkers are filled with black slag sand. Some of the bunker walls are made from old brick mine buildings.

http://oldworks.com/

Check out this website and read the story of how they built it. He used "super fund" project inteaded to clean up the old mine and built a golf course over it. Ingenius!!!

I'm a little partial to the Myrtle Beach area, of course, but my all time fav is River's Edge.

Check out www.river18.com to see why. This is Arnold Palmer's newest course in Myrtle Beach. The #9 Par 5 is the most discussed hole of any in Myrtle.

Hey Free--I definitely want to make it out there. What did you like about it more than some of the other big-name SC courses (Kiawah's courses, Harbourtown, Myrtle, etc.)?

Previously I have listed my favourite course as Turnberry however played in Ireland this year and have a revised opinion :

Old Head the most spectacular course on earth I would wager

Waterville an almost spiritual golfing experience

Ballybunnion 12 of the best links holes anywhere

but this last weekend played Ballyliffin which was good and Royal Portrush that was simply breathtaking in it's magnificence.

Two of us agreed Portrush was better than Turnberry so I have a new number 1.

I have not played any courses outside of Colorado ( I shoudl have played Kapalua when I went to Hawaii, I am kicking myself ). But as far as Colorado goes I will list my favorite courses in Order.

1.) Redlands Mesa, Grand Junction
2.) Lakota Canyon, Newcastle
3.) The Raven, Silverthorne
4.) Devils Thumb, Delta
5.) Bear Dance, Larkspur
6.) The Ridge at Castle Pines, Castle Rock

After that they are all interchangable. If you are ever planning a Colorado Golf trip I suggest you keep the Western Slope in mind ( that would put you in the vacinity of #1,#2 and #4 ) Unbelievable scenic courses and pretty challanging.

    • Day 18 (September 22).  I understand the two club drill better, and was alternating that and hitting a few smooth 6-iron shots;  indoors, off a mat, into the net.  I spent about 20 minutes on this thus far tonight.
    • I don't know your family or work situation, but have you considered relocating to Arizona?  I was out there the past month or so and played quite a few times;  it's hot, but not humid.   Or, if your house is sufficient size, consider setting up an indoor practice area, so at least when the weather or your schedule isn't cooperating, you can still hit a few. ... said Shindig, who has routinely disappeared for months, sometimes a year or more, at a time because of getting busy at work and just quietly sobs to himself as he walks past the room where his mat and net are during that time.  Dang, I need to not allow that to happen again.
    • Day 21 (22 Sep 25) - long day of meetings, took it easy and did some mirror work this evening….giving my left foot a well deserved break.
    • Day 39 9-22 Practiced backswing tonight without moving head. Recorded face on. Hit a few foam balls.
    • Thanks and it already has! Like I said, the last three months of my season were the best golf I've ever played. I'm within the realm of "this is fun for me" now. It was super tough grinding thru that break 90 consistently zone where I just kept hitting the toe, I kept popping up and out of every shot, getting steep. I am one of those guys doomed to shoot 95 forever if I don't really put a lot of work in, and I just wasn't gonna go out like that. My goal is definitely to get to that point of playing lots of courses and stuff like you are, but it's been the right thing for me to focus on developing a better motion. The amount of gym work too I've had to do? I see a DPT with TPI level 2 certification twice a week. I'm in the gym five days a week. The sun zaps the crap out of me for the gym too and I need that energy for all the other things I do on top of this stuff. I'm not really trying to become scratch either tho that would be nice! I'm just enjoying the puzzle that is golf, trying to overcome its challenges in an efficient and smart way. I'm very aware of the physical limitations I'm fighting so this summer has been continuing to address those with a good therapist.  But that's awesome, my goal is to get out there and enjoy new courses, play more rounds, just like you're doing! We'll see how this season goes, but I might be near doing that, if I'm not there already. I was only losing like one ball a round over those last three months or so, which is great for me on these sometimes tricky Florida courses.
