Dynalite Gold vs. Dynamic Gold

I have been playing a set of MX-20 with Dynalite Gold shafts and just bought a set of MP-60 with Dynamic Gold shafts. I didn't pay attention to the shaft model and weight as long as they are R flex. Wow, was I wrong? The 13 grams difference between between the shafts is huge. I don't like the feel of the heavier shafts and eventhough they are also R flex, they feel really stiff.

Now I have to sell them back on ebay which is a shame because the iron heads are in excellent condition. Or should I replace the shafts? How much would it cost?

First of all, Dynalite Gold and Dynamic Gold are two totally different shafts with different characteristics besides weight. Dynamic Golds will launch much lower due to its high kick point while Dynalites will launch much higher due to its low/mid kick point. With that said, your alternative to Dynamic Gold are either more Dynalites or Dynamic Gold SLs (super-lites). I believe the SLs are approximately 20 grams lighter than the regular Golds and have about the same launch characteristics.

One of the player reps where I got my irons suggested I might want to reshaft my X20s with DG R300 SLs.

I have the Adams A4 with the Dynamic Gold SL R300. I really like the shaft weight. They are supposed to be lower launch which fits great with these irons.

I've been considering Dynalite Gold for my next set; however, because it's a mixed set, I'm very worried about counter-acting a club's intended purpose with a particular shaft.

While we're on the topic - and this is related - how bad an idea would it be to put Dynalite Gold in a Nike VR blade and/or Mizuno MP-32/68 ? I realize putting a GS95 in either of these is probably asking for it.

Also, if weight is an issue, has OP considered KBS Tour instead of Dynalite? It's supposed to be a similar weight and slightly lower ball flight.

Finally, to OP -- if you just bought the MP-60s, depending where you bought them and how recently, you might be able to return them, then order the same set with the shafts you want, for cheaper than reshafting!

I've always been a high-ball hitter, with a relatively strong swing, so I was surprised at how well I hit the MX-200s with the Dynalite Gold stiff shafts. I compared a bunch of different irons, all with seemingly different shafts (Dynamic Gold S300s, Project X 6.0, Dynalite Golds, some others i don't remember). I demoed the MX-200s until my hands were sore, and I decided to go with the stock Dynalite Golds. Ball flight is high, but doesn't balloon (exception being the 50* GW, but that's due to my flipping problem with wedges). I previously had a set of MacGregor MT Pro-Ms with the Nippon 1150 stiff, and I did hit that combo a little too high (FWIW).

Shindig: I don't think the effect of the shaft on launch angle is as big a of a deal as the manufacturers would have us believe.

Awesome find, thanks! What I'm taking from this seems to be that I should swing the lightest shaft that I can control, but that putting a high-launch shaft (that I can control) into a muscle-back isn't as blasphemous as I would have thought. Or does this sound like I'm mis-reading it?

That's what I got from it. If you are a very consistent ballstriker and really want to fine tune your launch angles then you could use the shaft to do some of that. But, weight and flex play a much larger factor in overall ballstriking. If 2.5 degrees is the most extreme case Wishon has ever encountered, I'd imagine that most are effected much, much less.
