I used to play the e5 (hard to get overhere) and lately I got a dozen of V1. I of course like the V1 as they spin a lot but they also have a not-so-nice price.......

Looking at the Bridgestone website .... it looks as the Tour B-330-RX might fit in the gap between the e-5 and V1.

Anyone using these ?

I love the RX and play it regularly. The one thing I would say though is that while I'm not sure what it's like price-wise in the Netherlands, over here in the US it's not that much different (cost wise) than the Pro-V1. I think maybe $3 a dozen cheaper than the Pro-V1. So if price is a big concern over you not playing the Pro-V's...not sure the RX will be much better.

I play the B330 RX, and I like. However, it does lack a bit of spin for me. I want to try the e5, because I've heard that it has a soft cover.

I love the e5's. I use them and I feel like it has helped my game out quite a bit. I can put a lot of spin on it and I only have a GW for my short game. I put enough spin on it to get the ball to stop pretty quickly. I like the B330 RX as well, but it is too expensive for me for right now as I still lose a couple every other round or so. But I would definitely recommend the e5 and the B330 to anyone. Hope this helps a little

I like the e5 also very much, have been playing them for about half a year now, had some beautiful backspinning wedges with them, but the Pro v1 spins more.

Distance from the tee is better with the e5 (about 280-320 with the driver), but it spins a lot less.

The 330 is a bit more expensive than I hoped for (only about $7-10 cheaper than the V1), so I will stick to the e5 (still 6 dozen in my cabinet anyway....).

Been trying all the bridgestone offerings lately...rx, rxs, e6, and e5.  My driver speed is 93 and have a low launch type trajectory.  For all of these balls I got pretty good spin on wedges through eight iron.  Going beyond that I started get a diference with more spin on both the e5 and rxs.  By the time I got to the driver there was no comparison.  I couldn't get enough spin on the rx and e6 to get good carry.  The rxs and e5 would give me almost 20 yards more distance on the driver and were similarly easier to get in the air with my 4-wood.

I liked the rx very much until I got into the longer clubs.  The e6 performed very well on my wedges and short irons with nice spin.  I have to say the e6 felt very soft and sounded very muted which I didn't care for.  To me the e6 would make a good cold weather ball for a person who swings harder than I do or has a naturally high ball flight.  It also told me the balls designed for low spin were not right for me throughout my set.

It then came down to the rxs and e5.  I liked both a great deal off the driver getting consistent 250 carry with both with good swings.  I would say I got slightly more height with the rxs and it seemed slightly more forgiving.  I couldn't hit much in the way of anything crooked but consistent slight draws...while I seemed to get more right to left turn on the e5.  With the six-iron I was still hitting almost identical distances and trajectories.  And finally with the shorter irons there was more difference in the variations of my swing and contact that I couldn't say one stood out.  The difference is price and the e5 had a little harder feel at impact.  I couldn't tell any real difference in performance, but clearly liked the feel of the rxs the best.

Ironically, the bridgestone online ball selector program didn't recommend either of these as the top choice for me.  I entered exact stats from sessions on a monitor for three different balls, and four times I entered my statistics exactly the same just starting with a different ball that I use on a regular basis.

Moral of the story, get a sleeve of each of them and go hit them...everybody is different and has different preferences.

I don't often use a premium ball, but when I do, I prefer the B330-RXS (spoken in my best "most interesting man" voice, LOL)

Seriously, I do like the B330 RX and RXS a little better for me than the ProV's, but they are not a lot less expensive. In the low- medium price balls (which I use mostly) I like the Titleist DT Solo better than the E - series, although certain E's may have a little more distance. I also like the Wilson Duo and Callaway Supersoft in this price range.

As the man said, try a sleeve of each.

I have recently played both of the Bridgestone balls. I stuck with the e5 version. Price was a consideration only because I saw no difference in the play ability of the B330 version vs the e5 version. Not saying the B330 was a bad ball. It just did not play well enough for any advantage over the e5 when colliding with my own golf swing.

I pretty much always play bridgestone! E6 in winter and the RX / RXS in summer, The thing is, I've gotten so used to the feel off the putter, other balls just seem so different!

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
