No, but I slipped on a rock while crossing the ditch to the first hole....fell flat on my back, pinched a nreve in my right shoulder. I could not lift my right arm without significant pain....ended up not playing golf for 3 months.

It was horrible!

Last week I heard a scream coming from the next tee over. So I ran to investigate.

It was a foursome with 2 women 2 men. Apparently one of the women walked out onto the ladies Tee while one of the men was driving took the drive to the back of the skull and was bleeding like crazy. Had to call ambulance/guide ambulance out to hole on the golf course. Was interesting to say the least, she was fine and talkative just bleeding and shook up.

Anyone here ever get a pinched nerve in neck from walking/carrying your own bag?

I tried to do an exaggerated jim furyk move before and I ended up getting a crick in my neck that lasted for 2 days. Really sore.

I generally have some kind of injury every season.

The worst was when I was coming off my best season performance ever and decided I would work out with one of those really heavy Momentus clubs the following spring.

So I used it about 3 times, hurt my left shoulder and basically played horribly the few times I was able to play at all for the following 6 months.

The highpoint was on Father's Day, when I went out for 18, walking as I usually do, and was really laboring on the second hole. The bag felt incredibly heavy, which I discovered was because the frickin' Momentus club was still in the bag.

Too far from the clubhouse to turn back at that point, I kept going until the 4th tee, when the strap on my bag broke (probably from the extra weight), and I was forced to carry my bag like a suitcase for two holes before I quit and went home.

I rank that as one of my two worst rounds ever (along with the golf cart careening into the lava field).

I

Can you expand on that last point?????

How did you manage to get your cart to go into a lava field?

You must have missed this fine story originally posted in the "most annoying playing partner" thread, which I will repeat here:

I was playing at Mauna Kea on the Big Island once as part of a corporate golf outing. If you haven't seen the course, it's one of those places with lush green fairways surrounded by black lava rocks, right on the ocean, with lots of elevation changes. My playing partner was a 60 year-old guy I'd never met before and he started out driving the cart. His first order of business (ominous foreshadowing) was to drive the cart directly across the driving range landing area while a battery of players were firing away at us. After I got done yelling at him he pulled us to safety. Then we tackled an uphill Par 5 straight into a 45 mile per hour wind which I actually played very well to make 8. He took at least a dozen shots and then wrote 6 on the card, while magnanimously telling the other two players in our group to "Go ahead and take a 7 since it's so windy". But the best part was when we got to the top of a hill and he wasn't paying attention, lost control of the cart, catching the left front wheel on a curb and causing the cart to make a sudden violent turn left, jump over the curb and head straight down a steep hill. The feeling was identical to being in a roller coaster just at the crest of hill before it takes a steep plunge at 60 mph, except in this case we are headed straight down into a hill of jagged lava rocks. Panicked, I dive out of the cart and watch as he careens down the hill for 20 seconds and plows into a dead tree with jagged limbs, one of which goes directly through the back of the seat I had been sitting in seconds earlier. I thought to myself "wow, that was close" and then noticed that blood was shooting straight up out of my leg like a little fountain. I was eventually hauled back to the clubhouse on a stretcher, and spent the rest of my vacation with a giant bandage on my leg. In all, I guess that one is #1, while the Momentus club in the bag was #2.

The last time I played golf in Oklahoma, I hooked a drive into the rough on No. 5. I was walking toward my ball, carrying my bag, and stepped into a gopher hole hidden by the long grass. I stepped in and sprained my left knee and strained the miniscus.

Fast-forward to Christmas eve. I'm up on a small ladder getting down a box for my wife's gift. She comes up behind me and asks a question, and lose my balance and jump off the top of the ladder. You guessed it - I landed just right, retweaked the left miniscus, and ended up getting physical therapy. And yes, my wife's gift was a dozen golf balls.

Focus, connect and follow through!

    • Great year last year. Who winning this year could be another special story? Brooks? Spieth? Or Aberg? An AM? I dont know if anything could top last year
    • I love Rancho Park too!  I don't get out there much due to the 405 issues (Im in Santa Clarita) but I do try and get out there every now and then...last time out was in January where I eagled 17 (left green) with a holed 145 yard third shot ! Rancho is a great course! And at 24 bucks weekday with the city card, an absolute steal!
    • I have played PGA West, at least one or two courses in there, but I am not sure if I've played any of the courses used to host the Hope. I played a course that I think both isn't PGA West and is host to the Hope a few years ago, possibly at a TST outing, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right one. I have played Rancho Park plenty of times (exactly half of my sub-80 rounds were there!) and Wilson/Harding.  Rancho Park might be my favorite golf course among those I've played more than a half dozen times.   Hopefully I'll get a chance to play TPC Scottsdale, maybe this August or September, and at some point I think there was a PGA Tour event in Las Vegas, I should get up there and play those course(s).
