I was teeing off on the 7th hole today. I hit a great drive....as my natural fade kicked in I was saying to myself "sweet". Then the ball landed right on top of a bird. I saw the poor thing flop up in the air and back down, another bird that was by it flew away. When i got to it the poor things leg and wing was all tweaked. I had my cell phone made some calls and found a vet who worked on birds. I put it in my golf towel and as I was drving the cart back to my car..it died . I was bummed. Tried to go back and finish my game...but i could not. I buried it in my back yard. Any one else evr hit an animal while golfing? I have hit some deer a few times

Teed off with a 3 iron and caught it thin. Sent a rocket down the fairway 1 foot off the ground about 150 yards right into a flock of geese. Hit a goose right in the head. The goose went down like a ton of bricks. It honked a couple of times but by the time I got down the fairway it was dead.

Mine is a very similar story to yours, only my victim was only about 20 yards in front of me in the rough. It never occurred to me that I was not going to get the ball in the air.

I felt horrible. Especially when I saw a few drops of blood on the side of his head near his beak. Somehow though he apparently recovered and waddled off with the rest of the flock. It kind of shook me up for the next two or three holes.

canadian geese are nasty, filthy animals. it will taste nothing like the farm geese. Let it rot on the fairways to scare away other shit-machines. I hate them. In spring time there is more goose poop on my back yard than grass. I've a bucket full of rocks on my deck ready to defend my yard against the canadian air force !

We have a course full of Canadian Geese and also Mallard Ducks as well as a few Coots. The Canadians and Mallards use the course as a breeding ground, so we have goslings and ducklings galore in the spring. I have counted over 100 goslings at any given time. They do make a mess on the greens sometimes. Fortunately, I have never hit one of them. I have made them jump. A buddy of mine hit a squirrel in the head once with a wormburner. I think the story is on here somewhere. I wasn't there, but one of my usual group hit a hawk on the fly with a drive. The bird took a nosedive, but recovered just before it crashed and flew off to perch in a nearby tree and fuss.

A friend found a dead squirrel on the course (probably a victim of a golf ball) and thought it was really funny when he perched it on top of my golf bag while I was looking the other way. When I started to put my club back in the bag, I almost jumped out of my skin with this squirrel posed in attack mode standing on top of my bag.

that's a good one

at my course we have tons of suicdal snakes and chipmonks. They seem to find a way to throw themself under oncoming golf carts... dead bodies everywhere of course we're have some jokesters too and some of the dead snakes end up in the carts... mostly member's wifes playing. It's always good for few screams and yells

One time at the driving range, there was a flock of Canadian Geese milling about around the 165 yard range so I decided to see how accurate I could be with my 6-iron... several shots later I plopped one of the geese on the back and it went down like a load of bricks. The worst thing was, all the other geese swarmed around it in sort of protection mode. After it sunk in what I'd done, I felt horrible. Fortunately, the goose lived and eventually flew away, but I couldn't play golf for like a week I was so shaken up by it.

weak. they are pest and disease carries (and spreaders thanks to the poop-o-mania). it's like running over a rat on the highway. All I'd say is "oops... oh well".

We have lot's of geese up here - when they crowd the fairways and I'm trying to get to my ball I'll usually pull out a 3 iron just in case on of the blighters tries to attack - the males can be quite aggressive at times. Never had to use it, thank goodness.

There was a fox running around the fairways in daylight that used to freak out the lady golfers. He didn't mean any harm and didn't chase any golf balls. Other than that, we get the occasional moose, deer and (rarely) a black bear. I would try to steer clear of them - no sense pissing off a black bear (especially a sow with her cubs)!

I have to confess I've tried hitting woodchucks on the driving range by practicing my knockdown shot. So far, no hits.

The only bad thing about killing one of those geese is it stops the forward progress of your golf ball. They tear up golf courses something fierce. The coyotes at my course get one every so often, it always puts a smile on my face. I personally never have hit one. Got a jackrabbit on the top of the head once, it dropped like I had shot it.

I've got a story of a hit and two near misses:

One time in Florida, there was a gopher or somesuch, poking its head out of a hole right in front of our tee box, maybe 40 or 50 yards away. I joked with the other guys about trying to hit it. Well, I hit the driver off the very bottom of the face, by mistake, and the ball shot directly toward the gopher at about 160 mph and 1 foot off the ground. Just as it got to the gopher, the ball started to rise from the backspin. It ended up being a nice drive, but the gopher disappeared into his hole, probably to tell the family about the jet that just about took his head off.

My goose story took place here in Ohio. I hit a big pull off a tee right into the middle of a lake that borders the fairway. It would have hit the water on the fly, but a goose was absent mindedly paddling along. The ball landed right on its back. Alas, Rafcin, this goose just flew away protesting.

Finally, what I thought was the bird's revenge ... In Myrtle for our annual golf trip, my buddies and I had just finished teeing off on a hole. I was replacing my moose headcover on my driver when I saw a flash of movement out of the corner of my eye. I ducked and looked where the movement was heading just in time to see a big red tail hawk land on a chipmunk maybe 20 feet from our cart. I thought for a second that it had been after the headcover. It took a few holes to recover from that one.

Oh I know, I hate them as well, especially at my home course where they seem to take a liking to the 2nd and 7th greens. Still, I'd rather someone else do the dirty work for me.... Rafi, you up for a round of golf on me?

I've never hit any thing but someone at a local club hit a goose, either with a ball or cart, and it fell in the lake or was hit while in the lake.

It was flopping around in the water, and all the geese flew away and haven't been back yet.
