Comments? Discussion? Qualifying for a Nationwide tournament by 2011.

I will say once and for all guys that the reason this feat is impossible is because OP in these types of threads never lifts a finger to actually achieve the goal.

OP was information gathering and didn't say the feat could be achieved- he merely asked about it. That in itself is a big indicator because he is making no sort of committment. That's why his chance is zero.

Also people should wind their neck in! There has been a lot of honest yet negative posts in this thread. It is ludicrous that people who are arguing the probability of failure which is 9.9999999/10 have to put up with vociferous arguments that they could be wrong. If I am going to be proved flatly wrong in that way, which I doubt would occur if I lived 100 lifetimes I might just accept that to be right every other time!

This type of thread should get one response in future. Something that states the low probability, sets out a regime to achieve the goal and then ask the op to keep a weekly update on progress and close the topic.

^Not me, this is my favorite kind of thread. Threads like this led me to the book paper tiger which is now one of my favorite books.

I like reading people's explanation of just how incredibly amazing real pro golfers are. I had no idea until I had read a number of these threads.

Or the lessons I signed up to take 4 days a week from a pro who lives 2 hours away (because he was better than all the local pros) Because I asked a question and was information gathering (on a board dedicated to golfers) indicates I'm making no committment?

Yea that makes sense. You know, because the 4 hours I spent this morning just hitting sand shots, or the 36 holes I played yesterday. Or the 54 I played earlier? Or the 100+ warm up balls I hit before playing a recreational round? I can take criticism. I can take negativity. What I won't listen to is someone who honestly doesn't even know what I look like, little alone my daily routine. I never said I couldn't be achieved, just said it doesnt sound possible according to the people here. That in no way detours from my current mindset or playing ability. Oh yea thats right, nevermind, this post can't even be achieved because you know... I'm not even lifting my fingers.

Indeed. Making a topic on a golf forum to gather information is not to make a committment to act on it. If you don't take action you wont be achieving anything. So we all need to know what you are going to be doing.

You need to be a bit more open. All this about not knowing you is guff. We are working off limited information on the internet that you provide and unless I am mistaken you never told us that you had signed up to frequent lessons with a quality instructor. I mean, that's a salient point and if you mention that and your other measures you'll get a lot a help, I guarantee it. The last guy I asked what measures he was taking to go from 17 to scratch in a year hasn't been seen for 3 weeks - see 'scratch dreams' thread.

I mean, that's a salient point and if you mention that and your other measures you'll get a lot a help, I guarantee it.

Absolutely, not only help but also encouragement...and if you make it on to a Nationwide event in 2011, I would venture to say that all the Sandtrap Forum members would be glad to help reimburse you the fee for that event and to help you going forward if you decided to make that your career path. Everyone here would love to see one of our guys make it.

I suggest that you get off the "probability" thread and start a "chasing a dream thread" to outline how you are doing and your progress. I think it would be worthwhile and informative to all and I don't think you would see any negativity as you are not asking "what are my chances". Remember when you ask for both barrels you may get them. Chasing your dream and asking what the odds are two totally different things.

Yeah. Heck, I did you a favor and made you an Established Member in case you wanted to start a series of blog posts instead of just a forum thread. Do that. Keep a weekly - or even daily - journal with details about what you practiced, what scores you shot, and how you're doing.
