I currently have Cleveland cg15 wedges in my bag 52,56,and 60 lofts. A guy i know is selling a couple vokey sm wedges in 54 and 58. I have really been wanting to switch to 50, 54, and 58 lofts so this will give me a good idea of what that will be like and i will also be able to compare performance between the two(cg15 vs vokey sm).

Will i like the vokeys better? Or will i go back to cleveland and get different lofts in cg15s?

does it really make that big of a difference to go from 52, 56, 60 to 50, 54, 58?

either way...not sure what kinda answer you were looking for...i think only you can answer your own question since its all personal preference.

mainly looking to close the gap between my 46*PW and my current 52*gap wedge.

The main thing i have heard is the vokeys are heavier than the cleveland wedges. We will see and i will report back.

I started with Cleveland wedges and tried the Volkeys but came back to the Clevelands after a year. Of course outside of drivers and putters they are the third most hated clubs in the bag.

Driver - Taylormade R9
3 Wood - Titlelist 909F2 15.5 degrees

2H - Nickent

4H - Taylormade
Irons - Mizuno MP-63 5-PW
Wedges - Titlelist 52 and 60 and Cleveland CG-15 56
Putter - Scotty Cameron Stainless Steel NewportBall - Pro V or V1

I switched from a 52* 58* cleveland CG14 setup to a 56* 60* vokey setup and I have no intention of switching back to cleveland. It's not that I did not like the CG14 wedges, but I just find the Vokey Oil Can wedges I currently have much better.

Ironically, I switched from a Cleveland CG12 wedge to a Titleist Vokey wedge because it felt (at least to me) that the Cleveland wedge was heavier and stiffer than the Vokey. I didn't like the feel of the Cleveland, and have been able to hit the Vokey much better.

I bought a 56 vokey and loved it. It was a little different than my 588 cleveland, but I wont be going back to cleveland wedges. The sweet spot is a little different and has a different feel. I also noticed the head is a little smaller on the vokeys as well.

    • Yeah, uhhh… keep them dry? Because, yeah, the chrome is partly to help them not rust. You could have them re-plated, though you'd have to check on the legality. You could have them refinished by a company like this: https://www.theironfactory.com (they have closed, but there are still some other companies like them). Or, use them until they rust out a bit too much, and buy a new set.
    • On further reflection, I take back my "stupid" comment. It does make sense when put in context that the rule is to prevent any external attachments to the face of the club. Any change to that rule to allow exceptions would complicate the rule unnecessarily when it is easy enough to remove the stickers, etc.  I was surprised with her coaches advice and I've told her to just remove them before any competitions.
    • Hey guys so I sanded the top.of my irons I'm worried about rust I dint know that they had a finish any helpful tips would be much appreciated
    • High school golf coaches are often not really knowledgeable about the rules, I have an issue when a coach tells a player NOT to follow A specific rule.  As for the "stupidity" of this particular rule, I can't see a way to allow SOME stuff on the club face without allowing everything on the clubface.
