I have to play against myself. I think I can win.

I play in two leagues. One is a 44-man league on Wednesday nights and the other is a 36-man league on Fridays. Each league declares a champion and then the winners from each league play against each other for the "overall" championship.

Well, I won both leagues but I have different partners. I am the A player on both teams so I was going to let my two partners just play against each other in a 18-hole match. However, they both agreed it would be funner if I played too. So we decided that I would play two balls. It should be a good match but I think I can pull it off.

My equipment:

Driver - Callaway FT3 Fusion (9 degree)
3 Wood - Orlimar Tri-Metal (9 degree)
Hybrids - Bobby Jones (17, 21 & 25 degree)

Irons - KZG XCB 5 - PW

Wedges - Warrior (52 & 56 degree)

Putter - STX Envision

That sounds like it'll be a lot of fun(and quite funny too). I'll bet any amount of money that you win.

If you do play two balls, mark each one differently. For instance, use a blue pen to mark the ball when you partner with player A and a red pen to mark the ball when you partner with player B. Otherwise, you might run into a situation where player A says to player B, "My partner is in the fairway, but your partner may be in the hazard." And, player B responds by saying, "No, your partner is in the hazard, my partner is in the fairway."

Many congrats on your dominance. What is the difference between the two leagues, is it just the day they happen to meet on?

For fun, you could play one with your Callaway TOUR i(s) and the other with an old Top Flite XL. See how big a difference in score there is.

Hmmm, I am better on my second tee ball most of the time, this could add nice wrinkle to the game, as when team A wins hole they will have the tee, so you second ball will be for Team B - this could keep things bouncing back and forth.

That was the first thing that I said when the idea came up. I definitely think my second tee ball will be better most of the time. I usually stick a second ball in tight on the par 3's when I'm out practicing.

I was thinking that I'd play a white Callaway and a yellow Srixon to keep things clean.

Thank you. The leagues have different scoring methods. On Wednesday we have more incentive on the individual matches and bonuses for shooting your handicap or better. Helps keep the sandbagging down. On Friday we get less points for winning the individual matchups and there are bonus points for low team totals.

PS - Interestingly, my 9-hole handicap on Wednesday is 4 but on Friday I'm a 3. So in theory I would have to give myself a stroke per side. However, we all agreed I'd play even.
good luck

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
