I need larger grips on my clubs (bought them off the shelf, but I have much larger than average hands).

1) What's the best option to have this done? Within easy reach, there's a Dick's, a Golf Galaxy, and a course pro shop that does club fitting.

2) How long will I need to leave my clubs?

3) Roughly how much does it cost?

3 -10 dollars a club (depending on your choices), last time I did it I stripped off my old grips for them ahead of time & they had them all done in about 10 minutes or so.

Took them home with me right then :)

yep, 3-10$ depending on what grip you choose...typically have a $1 a club labor charge and they'll have it done in like 30 min. But you can't swing it for liek 24 hours.

I always do my grips my self, simple project and I suppose I just like working on my clubs myself. two sided tape and turpentine

Just had irons grips replaced with Golf Pride Decade grips for $8.99 per club at a local shop.

I'm a huge fan of doing it myself and also not using tape. Or if I need to build it up i'll use regular masking tape. The 2 sided tape is sticky for a day or two but really does nothing long term. I've never taken a taped grip off and had any tape on the inside of the grip so IMO the tape doesnt stick to the grip at all.

I went ahead and had them regripped last night at Dick's. I now have tour velvet jumbo grips, which is correct for my hand size. Yesterday while playing, my driver grip (the old one, before regripping) actually twisted on the shaft during a swing. Hopefully that won't happen anymore; the guy at Dick's left the old tape on and put a new layer on top, so hopefully the new grips are on there nice and snug.

Thats interesting on not liking tape... I've never had problems with two sided tape slipping or loosing grip. I'm suprised they didn't take the old tape off, I guess thats why I like doing it myself I clean all the old tape and make it like its brand new. But, you shouldn't have any issues with the old tape being left on.

Yeah, he told me he was going to do it that way, because the big grips could use an extra layer of tape, and I agreed (because it seemed to make sense). I assume it won't cause me any trouble.

Its not that I dont like tape. Well I guess I dont. When I have to regrip and cleaning it off is a huge pain. Its just that Ive yet to see a benefit of using tape. Ive never seen it stuck to the inside of a grip so obviously it loses its grip after a few days and its a pain putting it on and taping it off. I am building up some regular sized grips with masking tape though.

Adding tape and some larger grips increase the weight at the butt half of the club. This changes the center of gravity and may make the head end feel lighter. If you are a head swinger, this could be a problem. If you are a handle swinger then it shouldn't be much of a problem

      Day 2: played 18. Driving was decent to good. Approach play was meh. Short game meh, and putting solid. Added up to an 81. Needed more tap in pars and more birdie chances.

      Day 8 (28 Jun 26) - Worked with face position at address and overall setup - open/neutral/closed - and setting up for resulting shot shapes - using 8i and hard foam balls.  It was abbreviated as the thunder began to rumble. Got in about 20 swings before calling it.

      Tale of two swings.  Swing 1: Slightly outside takeaway (hands move outside of target line) only to allow trail elbow over collapsing at P4. Doesn't take much to overdo it for the trail elbow collapse to only further exaggerate. That's death. Swing 2: Hands stay slight in at takeaway for a much better trail elbow condition at P4. This is a hard sell from an instinct perspective. More focus on un-weighting and re-weighting of lead foot to unlock a bit more mobility of hips and torso. A major flaw that creeps up often is me swinging flat footed and becoming overly armsy-collapsy as a result. Got reminded of this the hard way during my 2nd round match for club net championship. Was cruising along 2up until I made the turn. Then lost the swing for next five holes. Andy was playing good enough to capitalize. By the time I regained my swing on 16th, it was too late. Even Andy was like "That was a gift". Obviously that stings because have played well enough lately. Should have closed him out of the game comfortably with a few holes to spare. Shoulda woulda coulda. Tough lesson. Damn. P.S. I know the swings look very similar but trust me there is a difference.
