High End putter

It sounds to me like a lot of bitter people who don't have the extra coin for the putter they really want. Like everything in this world, you get what you pay for. R&d;, superior materials etc. The pros use them for a reason. Why do you think Tiger uses a Cameron over a Nike putter? I played the same beat down faux insert putter for years, then I moved to an Odyssey mallet. Used that for a few seasons and then started looking a Cameron. Picked up a Newport 2 midslant and haven't looked back. The quality is spectacular, the feedback is unreal. To me, it truly was worth the money.

really wanted to. I have tried many of my friends Cameron's, and have yet to see one that could possibly make me a better putter, it surely hasnt helped any of them. If you enjoy your Cameron......... more power to ya.

Agreed. Moneys not the issue. I just refuse to buy into the fact that a $300+ putter will shave off any more strokes than my Rife Abaco. That isn't to say I didn't like SC putters. I've tried them out and they felt great...but is it really $150+ worth of greater than my Rife? Absolutely Not.

I mostly use my 20 year old Ping Zing 36" during the summer months and a old Wilson 8813 during the winter months because it is a little heavier and helps me with feel. I have yet to see any Scotty that gives better feel or feedback than these 2 putters. Putters are a personal club, and for those who truly believe that the a SC was worth the cost, ..... thats great! But at the same time...... I have seen too many idiots go out and buy them because "so and so" played with one.

i'll make a wild claim and say thats the reason most people play the newport 2's.

I disagree. I think it's a mixture of two things:

1)Very high quality 2)Ease of purchase. #1 is obvious, though the fact that they are so prominent on tour doesn't hurt them. My point with #2 is that if Bettinardi's and other milled putters (because there are a lot of them) were easier to find (ie. available at major golf retailers, pro shops, etc.) they would also be much more prominent.

What makes the SC any more high quality than a Ping or a Cleveland..... per say. I do not see any feature of a SC that puts them ahead of a Ping in quality and workmanship.

Being 100% milled. Scottys are no higher quality than the Cleveland VP Milled series from a few years ago or the PING Redwood series. But go into any pro shop or major golf retail shop, which do you see more of: Cleveland VP Mills, Ping Redwood, or Scotty Camerons?

True. I think that is also the precise reason their new milled, insert-free putter is not very popular. They have such a reputation for making insert putters, that people don't think their milled putters are that great.

Milled putters means nothing other than making everthing sound more technical, or create the aura of a finely produced product. I am a machinist/engineman and have been working with metal on lathes and milling machines since the late 70's. You can easily create a putter head using a cast process with as good or even better feel and quality. Milling only means that the putter head was made using cutting machinery instead of casting. Todays casting process can produce a metal product with the same density as a milled product.

#2 from my first post was really my point. What I meant by them being very high quality is that they aren't like those brandless POSs that you find at Sports Authority. They are made from high quality material and shaped in a high quality process.

Im pretty sure I had a forged putter for many years. The wilson 8802. It had a very solid hit that you could feel. Also had a huge trade in value considering how old it was.

searching the web on redwood ansers and came across this guys redwood. That thing is nice, he had it custom made with the finish he wanted, tungsten inserts, soft stepped shaft, engraving and custom paintfill.

For High End Putters, try Gold's factory. Widely renowned as the best putters in the World by the lucky few who get the privilege of playing with them. I recently invested in my first Gold's factory Putter.

Basically, they only make no more than 4 or 5 of each type of putter design they maker, sometimes only 1 or 2. I'm not sure what budget you mean for 'high end', do you mean High End, for a decent prize, or proper 'REALLY' high end?

I'm probably being silly recommending; But my Putting has always been my downfall, in the 10 years I've been playing golf, it's seriously awful haha, but this beautiful club has transformed my putting and been the single reason why I've managed to get my handicap down from 13 to 4 within 12 months; the Gold's Factory Putter.

I would say it's more because of the popularity of the head style. Every putter maker makes and anser style head, it would make sense to me that it's the most common/popular.
