i'll make a wild claim and say thats the reason most people play the newport 2's.

I would say it's more because of the popularity of the head style. Every putter maker makes and anser style head, it would make sense to me that it's the most common/popular.

I think as long as a person gets a putter fitted to there swing and practices with that putter they will do just as well with a lower end putter. Though an SC will do it in more style.

really, interesting. I wonder why they told me they just started the sale and they were marked down to 150, I even called twice and got the same answer. Was even the ping redwood anser's 119.00? Those are more popular.

Just called and they confirmed 119 for the rest of today. I'm a Cameron guy but thought I might pick one of these up for such a good price!

thanks for the clarity. im surprised they can sell them that low. I dont know of any store that is selling them cheap like that. They have to cost the store more than 119 a piece wholesale? I called golfsmith to see if they would match the 150 price a few days ago and they told me they have to be fake, lol. I told them they are a huge store in seattle etc. The guy said golfsmith gets them for 210 a piece wholesale.

$210 for wholesale is bull. my guess is Puetz is clearing them out at near wholesale price to bring more stuff in. Puetz is awesome for extremely low discounted prices on items. Typically, if a brand discontinues an item or gives retailers the 'ok' to put thigns on sale, Puetz will be the very first in the Seattle area to do that. They cleared out all their Titleist 909D2's and D3's by putting them on sale for $220.

Now only if they can stop using those sh*tty limited flight balls..i'd go there for the range too.

I have a Scotty Newport 2 Studio and it's a beautiful piece of equipment.
However, when all is said and done, it's still just a slab of metal and the end of a rod, and you still have to make the putt yourself.

Bought a Rife Trinidad today. Came down to the SC Newport 2.6 and the Trinidad. After testing...I could not fine one I liked better...so I bought the one that was $170 cheaper.

Finally got the redwood anser in the mail. First impressions are that the feel is softer when hitting the ball compared to the cast ones and a little more consistant. Sometimes cast ones have a few hot spots where the ball jumps off, not with one this one. Only drawback is, I really love the anser 2 headstyle, if only they made a redwood in the anser 2 style. Anyway cant wait to play with it.

How is that "high end putter" working out for you?

I call shenanigans.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
