Greetings ...

As most should already know, the Fed Ex Cup Grand Prize is worth $10 Million, along with a 5-year PGA Tour exemption.

Meanwhile, a Tour Championship win is itself worth $1,350,000, along with a 3-year PGA Tour exemption. Not too bad if you can't win the really big one.

I realize that this is a weekday and only the first round, but is it just me or is there hardly anyone attending this event today in person? Seems pretty empty as far as spectators are concerned. I didn't really watch the past few years, but is this typical for the so called "Tour Championship"? How sad.

I hope this isn't cheating because it already started. lol

I'll take Paul Casey to win it all.

I just watched Ernie on 12 missing a putt. That ball had a weird dimple on it sitting next to the hole. (HD baby!)

I'm betting that Bubba Watson doesn't make one of those videos where he tries to show what a fun and crazy guy he is after his first round. Funny that.

It's only the first round, it's a limited-field tournament, and East Lake is an urban course that doesn't have the spectator infrastructure to host massive crowds (every fan must enter via a shuttle originating from the Turner Field parking lot, several miles away). The tour probably didn't allot many Thursday passes.

Well I had already wanted Paul Casey to win before his round, and I still want him to win after this round haha. I just want him to actually win rather than just dying off on sunday.

It's nice to see Furyk hitting 3 irons on the 200 yard par 3s. You can be one of the best without hitting the 7 iron 180 yards.

Tim Clark too, he's brilliant with his woods.

Nothing against the guys in the lead, but here's the top 5 after round two, Furyk, Donald, Ogilvy, Choi, and Goosen. I mean does it get any more boring for the tv spectator? These guys rarely even crack smiles...... hopefully some of the younger guys can make a run tomorrow

Look at the list of 30 players. Who did you have in mind? Seriously. Ben Crane? Ryan Palmer?

I agree that a lot of these guys are boring, but they don't crack any less smiles than any of the younger players and are probably a damn sight more interesting. Ogilvy is seen as an intellectual merely because he is capable of string several sentences together, but do you want to see Bubba Watson swearing and frowning before he realises he comes across as a sour bore and that he'd better put out another wacky video that seems to get the guys here so excited or do you think it would be fun to see Jeff Overton pouting and muttering to himself. I want to see good golf, and I'm yet to see any younger players make the gane more "fun" to watch no matter how much of a run they're making. Perhaps it would be fun to watch Ryan Moore looking as if he's stumbling from one charity shop to another, before claiming that his natty ties are a nod to the game's traditions, or Dustin Johnson (known on this site as "Dustin") loping around. Unfortunately, Fowler isn't there and we miss out on the thrill of seeing him with his hat on backwards in the interview room. Geez - these guys are incredibly dull. But it's good watching them play. There are very few real personalities in the game now, which is proven by the fact that their "personalities" only amount to what they wear, like Moore or Fowler. Did you notice how the boring Stricker suddenly became cool when Tiger Woods referred to him as "Strick"? I'd like to see Scott, Clark and Els battling it out.

I vote that they stop giving names to the grass used on golf courses. I'm tired of hearing about bermuda and kikuyu every time the players are faced with a greenside chip or pitch on courses which feature this grass.

Early tee times on sunday:
The third round of THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola got under way on a gorgeous and sunny Saturday morning at 9:05 a.m. The early wake-up calls were necessary because NBC is committed to broadcast the Stanford-Notre Dame football game at 3:30 p.m. NBC’s coverage of THE TOUR Championship runs from 12-3:30 p.m. Turns out, Sunday now will be another early start due to the threat of storms in the afternoon. The first tee time will be at 9 a.m. with an expected finish of 3 p.m. The coverage on NBC will be tape-delayed. Gates will open to the public at 8 a.m.

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
    • Day 433 - 2025-12-07 Got some work in after Junior Elite before a night of sports (and the return of my wife!). Backswing work. Similar to what a lot of my juniors are doing.
