There is a local fund raiser tournament that my buddies play in every year that has some funny challenges. On one hole they give you a putter, and you throw it as far as you can, and that is where you hit your first shot from. There is a balcony over looking the 18th green, and they cook ribs, and after you finish you throw your bone on the green for the golfers to putt around. Another hole you Happy Gilmore hit it, and wherever it lands that is where you play your first shot.

Some of you will probably be floored by this, but let me say that it is all in fun it raises money for the family of a guy that was fun, outgoing, and never met a stranger. He helped a random person change a tire on the side of the road, and was hit by a car an killed. It is just one of those tournament where scores don't matter it, it's not serious everyone just has fun.

Do any of you guys have tournaments like that in your area?

I saw a few of those in the 1980s - they were not fun to follow the next morning. Divots the size of porcupines - on the greens.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

i didnt play in it, but a local course had a tourney sponsored by a local nudie bar. apparently there were naked girls all over the course and some were turning tricks back in the woods on the hole farthest away from the clubhouse.

There is a nearby course that does a goofy tournament at the end of the season. Not so much wierd, but hard. They will mow greens as fast as they can get them and still have grass on them and put the pins in the absolut hardest spot they can on the green. Not just tucked behind the bunker, but like right on the edge of the ridge on the two-tiered greens. Or near the back edge so if you miss just a little too long with your putt, it goes in the water since they also mowed down the area right behind the green. They push the tee markers as far back as they can or move them off to the side to give you a bad angle.

I've never played it, but a friend who has told me it is fun and frustrating at the same time.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Used to be part of a group that went to Sebring Fl. for 3 days every year and they used to have an afternoon "Count your cans handicap". You would play a 4 man scramble and every empty beer can your team had would go into a bag. At the end of the round each team would count their cans and take that many strokes off their score.

As you can imagine, there were some pretty crazy groups/scores comin into the clubhouse.
my get up and go musta got up and went..
