Hey heres the spot to talk about anything and everything hockey. The season is rapidly approaching and I want to know who people think is going to be the team to watch this year.

For me the Big4 in the east are going to be the Caps, Pens, Bruins, and Flyers. Being from Boston I of course think the Bruins made some of the biggest improvements in the offseason by adding Tyler Seguin(who scored his first goal as a professional vs florida last week) and Nathan Horton who almost has a goal a game preseason right now. Also promising Rookies Jordan Caron and Bartkowski have impressed the coaches and could push for a roster spot this season. On the down side Marc Savard has come out with his Post Concussion Syndrome and willmost likely be going on LTIR for an unkown amount of time leaving a big ? right in the middle of the lineup for Boston.

I dont know much about the western conference so if somebody out there would like to share there thoughts on their favorite western or eastern conference team it would be awesome.

I think its going to be a really interesting season esp and looking forward to hockey talk here.

I'm amazed by the anticipation leading up to the Bruins season this year, even after the embarrassing exit from the playoffs last year.

Alotta people feel it was a fluke I mean what are the odds that Bergeron, Lucic, Krejci, Sturm, Chara, Savard are all hurt in the playoffs again this year?*knocks on wood*

ESPN also put them in the cup finals with vancouver so we will see.

I hadn't seen that. I'm not quite that optimistic about their chances this year, but I do think they'll do better than they did last year. I do hope that Savard doesn't end up on long term IR this season. They had a hell of a time trying to score without him.

Take anything said on ESPN concerning the NHL with a grain of salt.

Do you B's fans think that the only reason that Savard is still on the team is because of the post concussion syndrome? Redwings fan here. Looking for a better year out of the Wings. Hopefully the injury bug stays away.

Do you mean *not* on the team?? Or that he didnt get traded because of PCS?

That he didn't get traded. No team would want to take on that contract if they aren't sure he will play anytime soon.

Is he out again? I saw him dancing around someone wearing bleu blanc et rouge just the other day.

Regarding a Canucks v. Bruins SCF: I'll bet 100 gazillion dollars against that happening in my lifetime.

He shouldn't have come back so soon. His brain is still scrambled.

I had to re-read the thread - thought the player in question was Patrice Bergeron.

He's looking really good this preseason actually. Which is exactly what the B's need to replace savards points until he returns. Seguin and Caron two rookies have some of the most goals for the B's this preseason and made the team. While impressive rookie D from Boston University Matt Bartkowski was sent to the AHL, while Ferrence and Hunwick are under "evaluation".

Going to be a fun season, I dont put them at #1 in the east that will be the Caps and #2 the Pens most likely. But I could see them winning the division for 3rd and then its just a matter of playoff luck/success.

Go Flyers!

Actually I like the Flyers (despite the pain last year causes me to endure when thinking about the historic B's collapse) Mike Richards and Chris Pronger nuff' said. Two of the best and toughest players in the game today.

BTW, NHL Center Ice is going to have a free month to star the season most cable providers. So I will be watching Tor/Mtl and Philly/Pitts tonight sizing up the East lol.

Using any team playing against the Leafs as a way to judge the East is a waste of time.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
