Tied!  Lids with 2 games in hand.  Buff is doing great though.  Did you know that he is tied for 2nd in the entire league in shots?

Don't get me started on Nik Lidstrom - I got a huge mancrush on #5. Just hoping he doesn't burn out with all their injuries (no #23 = bad, very bad long term for Nik).

Ditto, huge Rangers fan here too.

Central Park in the Wollman Rink would be spectacular. Bloomberg and Bettman should get on it. The seating would be a problem - it's just not equipped to seat that many. They could use temporary bleachers, but there are some downsides to that.

That said the Russian all-star game that Jagr played in the other year was played in Red Square in Moscow in sub-zero temperatures, so if anything is possible int he former Soviet Union, you'd think we could figure it out in NYC.

[Tonight we (Rangers/Connecticut Whale) face the formidable Byfulgien, we need a point or two here to stop the slide.]

Glad the All Star Game is here, Red Wings getting back Datsyuk and a couple other players.

If you were ASG Captain Nicklas Lidstrom, who would you pick for your team?

My vote goes for Stamkos.

One of the following:

1.) Henrik Sedin - I'd dare Staal to take Daniel.

2.) Dustin Byfuglien - they'd be a force.

3.) Cam Ward to get the crowd on his side.

I played on a line with Stamkos when we were both 12 years old at a Canadian Hockey Tournament All-Star Game. Even at that age, everyone knew the kid was something tenacious. He would skate circles around the others. After him, I'd try and get Duchene. Get a bunch of young kids and let them fly around. It is going to be pretty interesting to see if the Sedin twins get split up.

I really enjoyed the new all star weekend structure. It brought a lot of buzz. No if only they would get rid of the new hockey super heros!

Still trying to find my swing!

There were only 2 good things about the asg weekend.  1. The draft  2.  The battered Wings got some rest.  The game was a snoozefest as was the skills competition.

While the super heros are a bit generic, they will do no harm.  No need to get rid of them.

I thought the best things about ASG weekend were:

1.) it was as good as a lame event can possibly be. Still lame, but not as lame as last year.

2.) the league didn't pressure guys with injuries to participate like the did a couple years ago (e.g. Crosby needs rest more than PR gladhanding)

3.) I've never been hit in the back by a Shea Weber or Zdeno Chara slapper (being a shot blocker or a tip in guy on the power play is a thankless job)

Amazing things I saw today:

1.) Vancouver won big, and stretched their overall points lead. As a Canucks supporter since 1979 that seems very surreal.

2.) A mule scored 5 goals - first player to do it since 2007.

3.) the hardest punch in a line brawl was thrown by the tender. Marc Andre drops Dipietro with "one punch bro". This was the last thing on Rick Dipietro's suckage bucket list. Now he can retire..

Brent Johnson did it. Fleury came in for the last 16.5 seconds after Brent was booted. DiPietro will probably be on the IR for six months now.

Okay, that makes a lot more sense. I heard on the radio about the brawl, but they were focussed on Fleury facing one shot yet sharing a shutout. When I saw the highlights the fight was over in an instant and the guy on TV kept saying "one punch bro" and making refences to some guy named Ronnie from the Jersey Shore.

Johnson and Staal must go to the same boxing instuctor.  They both put their opponent down with a single left!

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
