I played with a guy who used one of these this past weekend, and was pretty perplexed by the design. Has anyone else here ever seen one, or does anyone else here have one? I'm curious to know how it feels to putt with. Also wondering if there's any benefits to using one, or if it's just a clever (or not-so-clever) advertising ploy. Here's a pic (sorry it's so huge, I couldn't figure out how to shrink it):

i have one... benefit is you can see the alignment because shaft is on the backside... It has amazing feel to it... I put every long putt within 3 feet... I love putting because of this putter lol... I picked this over many SCs and Nike Methods. I tried many different putters over 2 month period and picked this. Remember, this has soft insert... some people hate em... Also.. You will have to spend some time on the practice green.. The thing is akward.. just needs getting used to period...

They say the point of it is to promote a forward press in your putting stroke, but every time I have used it I actually get the opposite effect because it feels like the shaft does the forward press for me. It does not, of course, but the look and feel make it seem like it does.

I purcahsed one after several visits to Golf Galaxy and loving the way it felt, I finally pulled the trigger. I have never been happier with any golf purchase as I am with my two-ball Backstryke. I had an Odyssey Dual Rossie from 1995 to 2009 when my wife purchased me a Scotty Cameron Del Mar as a wedding gift. While I love the look of the Del Mar, I could never get the feel that I was looking for. I made the switch back to Odyssey and do not think I will be switching to any other putter for quite some time, if ever. I am so confident with this putter, which is half the battle, that I feel I am going to make everything inside 10 feet. Highly recommend the Backstryke.

    • I'll say again… you have a different definition of "temporary" and "speed" than I do. For your handicap to go up FOUR shots means you were through the soft cap and approaching the hard cap. If you did it over 15 rounds (leaving five potentially lower scores), then you played REALLY bad golf over that stretch because it's likely that only three or four of the best of those 15 rounds were actually counted, so if the three or four best scores RAISED your handicap five shots (three at 100%, 2 at 50% once you hit the soft cap), then that's some BAD golf over an extended (not temporary) period of time. And here's the thing… play 15 good rounds, or even just EIGHT, and it'll DROP again, even faster. Handicaps still drop faster than they rise, not only because of the way we calculate it (best 😎 but because of the caps. Right… it's not like you're not needing the shots. You're playing really badly, and your handicap is still lagging behind your play.
