905t vs. New Drivers

Thanks to advice from people on this forum, I recently purchased a UST AXIVcore Tour Green from rockbottomgolf on sale.

I don't really want to pull my shaft from my Nike VR driver. I am looking around for a driver head to experiment with this shaft. I found a 905t on craigslist for 40 dollars. A few questions - will this shaft fit into this driver head? How much have drivers improved since the 905t (other than the obvious increase from 400cc to 460cc)?

Does this seem like a good idea/deal? Thanks.

I hit mine just as far as the 460cc clubs I have had. I have to hit it harder due to my xstiff shaft, but the ball dispersion is much tighter.

I had the 905T as my backup driver for awhile... to be honest, its not the easiest driver to hit. Well, at 5.2 handicap, i'm sure you'll do just fine but I found it to be a bit harsh. Maybe it was a shaft combo (Prolaunch Blue Stiff) but I did not enjoy hitting that driver much.

I'd say toss the Axivcore into your VR Tour because I know you won't regret it.

I have a 905T and love it. I think it takes some special device to change shafts, though, so not all installers can do it. Something about how the hosel is made or something.

i have a 905T as a backup - GREAT driver

I assume you bought a .335" tip shaft???
if so, then yes it will fit the 905T
BUT keep in mind the 905 is a borethrough head

meaning that the tip prep area will be around 4" if fully inserted
and your shaft will play about a half a flex stronger
you can also blind bore it (if you know a good club builder) then it will only be inserted the same as a regular shaft/head combo and will play true to flex

overall, great driver
I have a Graffalor Pro Launch Red 60 Stiff inserted at full borethrough
this thing is friggen stiff, cpm's out at 272 (VERY STIFF)
but it still feels buttery smooth....even tho i have no business playing a shaft that stiff

for $40, thats a great price
and its as long or longer than any other driver i have tried.......well the J33R i had was LONG LONG LONG
