So heres my situation and what I was wondering. I've gotten pretty consistent with my 3/4 swing. I use it with every iron and get decent ball striking results all around. Heres my question, some of you low handicappers will have to think back, but.. when did you make the transition between a 3/4 and a full swing? Just been thinking about when I'm going to start trying to get a full extension it's just that I'm not that flexible and that anything beyond about 80-85% seems like too much and throws me off - a completly different world of swinging. Anyways anything goes as far as feed back hit me with any thoughts , opinions or ideas you've got. Thanks

ps Im getting the technique i just need more distance - hitting 7iron like 140 -145

I don't see why you would want to change. You can still get plenty of power and distance from a 3/4 swing. I say stick with it. Why do you need more distance...? nothing wrong with hitting 7i 145.

I'm no low handicapper, but I agree. If you're getting decent ball strikng results with 80-85% power, then leave it there while you work on the short game and putting to complete your game (if needed). No need to jack up the power only to lose the ability to strike the ball well. $.02

Most people's 3/4 swing (or less) is actually a full swing. There's very little good to be had in over-swinging and it tends to lead to casting or other problems.

If you swing what you feel is a 3/4 swing but you make solid, square contact without throwing away the lag/flipping, you're going to gain distance with your irons without trying because you'll strike it properly. I would focus on solid contact and holding your lag through impact...you'll get more distance. A lot of pros that go at it 80-85% with their irons have private jets and wives with ginormous fake breasts. It's worked well for them.
