Its a sad day that Couples will be playing majority of his time on the champions tour now. He will be playing in the Masters yearly, but he's not going to schedule majority of his time on the PGA tour anymore. It will be sad to see that sweet swing go.

Figured he would at least play the majors on the PGA tour if he's eligible, im sure he would get sponsors exemptions if he's not. He's still a very popular player and big draw and can still be competitive. I figure thats what Tiger will do at the end of his playing career, play the majors and just a few events on the PGA tour, i dont see him ever going the the Champions Tour. Whereas guys like Rocco Mediate and John Daly in a few years I think will relish the opportunity to play and be competitive on the Champions tour and perhaps Vijay as well as he's struggled with injuries the last couple of years and Couples and Kenny Perry have commented on how the 3 round tournaments are easier to complete with old nagging injuries.

Why do you suppose that Tiger will never play on the Champions Tour?

"When I'm 59, I'll be gone". Plenty of Freddie to watch in that case.

"Now I know that I am done with the regular TOUR. Absolutely done ... That I know. Absolutely."

He had a successful year, so I imagine it's the injuries, and the grinding amount of play.

As for "When I'm 59, I'll be gone".

Well I think of that Errie Ball biography they did on Golf Channel yesterday. How about another 40 years Fred?

Errie is now 99 or 100 and still teaching golf at a club.

But yes, as a relatively newcome to this game, I really enjoyed those events in which Couples was up there on the leaderboard and getting some TV coverage so one could see his swing.

I don't think Tiger will play because he won't have the motivation. He'll have won so much money it won't be necessary. Other guys still need to bring in some income to maintain their standard of living. /mytwocents

Yeah Tiger is motivated by money. Close to a billion dollars isn't enough for this man! :P

Sure wish his back would hold up so he could play another year. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this. Just think of all the cash that he is going to make on the Champion's Tour - taking cash from vintage players who can't drive the ball like Freddy! Maybe, they could make him put with a long putter to make it a little more competitive.
