+ index golfers that didn't actually get there until after married w/kids and working full time. Seems like a very rare accomplishment. But I'd like to know about those that have done it.

I couldnt last in this marriage. I play 5 rounds a weekend. I could go down to 3, but not just 1.

I suppose I'd qualify, though I don't play often enough and my official handicap is probably at 0 or something.

Have your invested a huge amount of time practicing or have made sure that the time was spent on the right things? Nicklaus has often been quoted as saying that he did not practice near as much as others but relied on brief focused sessions. I think Gary Player said about his limited practice and play schedule that Nicklaus became a legend in his spare time. My point is that if you have the talent each time you reach a new level as long as you put enough time to maintain it, then when you do have some more time you will probably improve. If you take long periods completely off I think it would be really difficult to improve.

i play 4-5 times/week and practice as often

kidding aside i wont be a + this year (or maybe ever).... a 1 would be a good goal, or slightly better i guess

Nope, but I know plenty that have gone the other way. Of course all for good reason. Priorities in life.

awesome question...having started 3 years ago, I find it a respectable task to achieve.

Its the one sad aspect of a golfers dream to become a tour pro. UNless your Ricky Fowler dont get involved too much with women that dont understand golf.

how do you guys manage so much golf? I ve 2 kids, self employed running a buisness, at the moment its dark here at 4 30 and pretty cold ( might get snow today) so if im lucky i might get to the range once a week! and can only play once at the weekend because of family commitments! ( Kids) Wish i could play more but there are not enough hours in the day! Only way i could get out there more is if i told the Mrs i was at work in the day and going golfing instead! Normally have to have the kids when im not at work!

I have played 5 times in the past 3 weeks. tomm will be 6x and sunday 7times. Im a binge golfer

When my business is "busy" i dont play unless its a scramble or tourney for business. I also coach my kids teams so those are times i dont play

My wife is a med student, so for the time being she is very encouraging about time on the golf course. My goal is a + handicap within the next 3 years, right before it's time for kids :(

best way to golf your a$$ off and still make a super comfortable living i am a Mortgage Broker, as as my previous post states, i golf 4-5 days a week (from April - Oct.) this is a typical day for me: 8am-drop kiddos off at daycare 9am-tee off (9 or 18 depending on the day) Noon-go to work, work until 4pm, 4pm-pick up kiddos from daycare or 7am-tee off 1030-go to work 4pm-pick up kiddos from daycare i dont golf on the weekends a tonne, maybe 2-3 Sundays a month my super busy times are usually march-May, Sept. -Nov. usually mid summer isnt as busy as the rest, so its prefect for me to get out not a scratch or + index, but one day ill hopefully make it!!hahahha!

    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 40 yrs My current handicap index or average score is: 4.0 factor My typical ball flight is: Straight however sometimes slight draw. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn. • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
