Does anyone have any ideas on how i could make money to help pay for my golf. I am only 13, so I can't get a "job''. Take into consideration i live in a very rural community.

Mow lawns. Probably not great for "rural" places, though.

Paper route? Also probably not great... Ask your parents if you can do something more to help earn some allowance type stuff.

Blah, that's tough as a youngin.

Once you get of age (It's 14 here with working papers), you can caddy which lets you play free 1 day of the week (it was Mondays for us)

I have the double whammy. Work for a huge resort that lets me play all 7 courses free and work at a golf shop so I get heavy discounts on all my gear. Makes it alot more enjoyable.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

Can you help out at the golf course so they let you out on the course for free or maybe at least at a discounted rate? You could also see if the golf range near you needs help as well.

Bingo. There's a guy selling pro v1's for 1 euro at my club. He walks the course every day and his boot is full of golf balls.

Probably makes more selling golf balls than a minimum wage job over here. what do you need the money for btw?

Maybe you missed the title of the thread. He needs the money to fund his golfing.

webhosting, web design... setup people's internet in their house (via wire or wireless). etc... except for going to people's houses to setup their internet, for the rest, no one will know you're only 13. :)

step #1: sell all the stuff you don't use anymore (old playstations, games, toys you may have outgrown)

Jobs to consider
1: animal caretaker: If you like dogs/cats/other animals you can charge people to take care of their pets when they are out of town. charge people to clean, groom, exercise their animals---in rural areas I'm sure there are lots of animals around.

2: Automobile cleaning and detailing--could also clean tractors, etc

This one's rough.

I bought a dozen NXT's today from a guy that collects balls for $5. That's alot of searching for $5.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

This is used to just fund golf in general. It may be used for green fees, equiptment etc..

I would imagine there are alot of people in the wintertime that don't take the time to go find a ball that may have found the woods off the tee. This would probably allow me to find alot of balls that would usually be recovered.

I'm 22 now and I have no income. But during my freetime I freelance my work (web design, graphic design, and photo). The money is not very much but good enough to cover my spending on equipment, range & green fees. I go to the driving range almost every other day and play on course twice a month.

I tried saving money by bringing my own balls to practice pitching and putting at the range, it's free! Buying used clubs or demo clubs also helped saved a lot for me.

When I was your age I bought and resold stuff on eBay to male extra bucks.

Good luck!

this is easy

That is EXACTLY what I did before I started caddying. I would alternate nights on what I did. One night I would walk the course and look in the woods and look for balls. The next night I would ride my bike to the course. Go to every tee box trash can and take out all the cans. Usually got two trash bags full of cans a night and could sell each bag to a local recycling place for a couple bucks each. Not a ton of money, but it adds up. Just keep saving. The golf balls I would sell at a little stand I set up on the 3rd Hole Par 3. Just dedicate a day and sell balls all day. If I spent a day from about 8am-4pm I would usually make at least $75. And I was always finding more balls than selling so I didn't have to worry about running out.

A great way to find alot of balls is by spending a day what a friend of mine and I call "Ball-hawking days". We go play a course in the morning and then go search every woods on the course until dark. We would do this once a week or two and find over 150 balls each. We just walk around with plastic bags and do a thorough search of the woods. We still go ball-hawking but not as often any more. Usually a couple times a month at best.

That a tough one. While you are obviously looking for a quick income, that is not likely to happen.

My suggestion is get really good at making web-sites or other computer skills. You can even offer to type. The key is do it for very cheap to get you business started off the ground and let the word of mouth do your advertising. I know it takes some time to build up the business, but it will serve you well when you grow up. In the meantime, you can also offer to do house hold chores--both for your parents as well as any of your close neighbors. For example, you can offer to clean their house once a week/month etc. at a very reasonable rate. I know some people hate cleaning house and stuff, but that is what you are looking for. Something that others will pay for so they won't have to do it themselves. You can even offer to baby sit for people near you. Good luck. And remember, persistance ALWAYS pays off.

    • Day 316 - More swings, full backswing and full finish.
    • Day 132: did some mirror work while watching TV. Worked on backswing stuff primarily.
    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
