Hey guys,

I just wanted to express how happy I am with my new purchase of the Adams CB2 forged irons. I got them about two weeks ago, and Im in love with them!!! These are the sickest and best feeling clubs ive ever played. Adams has really broken the mold on these clubs. The forged iron feel on these cubs is amazing! I really feel like I can feel the ball being compressed with these clubs, and if you can believe it, I think ive picked up about 10 yards distance with these clubs. Paired with some great lessons of course...

About 2 months ago I bought the new Taylormade R9 TP irons. I hit them a few times in the store before ordering them, and I thought I liked them, but once I got them out on the course I didn't like them. The feel was plain and felt very "solid" for lack of a better term. I felt as if I was striking a rock every time I hit the ball with them. I had liked the Adams clubs before, but I went Taylormade for some reason, even though ive always been against their over hyped products.

As ive matured as a golfer I have stopped going for the hype and what the magazines say are the best. Instead Im going for feel and what I hit the best. And now my bag is a mixture of clubs and brands rather than what matches my hat.

This new set of Adams CB2 irons are fantastic, and Im playing better than I ever have before.

If I wasn't gaming my clubs I would be using those Adams CB 2 irons or even the CB 1's.. I hit them at my Golfsmith and really liked the feel I was getting from them.

IMHO, forged is the way to go because it is the best feeling.

I absolutely LOVE my irons and won't be switching, not even upgrading to the new Nike Pro Combo Forged irons because I just didn't like the way they felt compared to mine. Once you hit a club and it feels like its the "one" you have to go with it.

Glad that you went with what YOU feel is better for you and its all about how things feel to you before you buy them. Congrats on your purchase!

How does the black finish hold up?

Pretty sure the feeling is more due to the shafts combined with the weighting of the club head. I've tried the CB2's only at GG and they spew out some ridiculously long #'s comparatively. Stronger loft and I think .25" longer shaft length with a lighter shaft is what caused the distance gain from what I believe. Wish I could game a CB2 on the course but no one I know even games Adams irons.

I play with the Adams A4s, which were the predecessor to the CB2.  I picked up the CB2 4 iron with a DG SL shaft to replace the hybrid in the A4 set.  Very nice clubs.  They feel the same as the A4s to me, which I like. Glad you like them as well.  I'm also happy that Adams kept the A4 forged idea going.  It is a more forgiving forged iron with a little lower center of gravity for a higher launch.

Have fun with them.

So far so good. Im trying really hard to take great care of these because of the black finish. And its really hard to remember not to grab my wire brush to clean them though. Haha, I dont want to prematurely rub the finish off. However the black finish is great for checking your impact spot on the face. The ball seems to leave a mark when you hit it. It rubs right off, of course, but its actually kind of nice to be able to check and make sure Im hitting it off the middle of the club face.

I actually considered buying some A4's, and I almost pulled the trigger on them, but when I found out I could get a brand new set of CB2's (the Adams area rep plays at my club) for less than the price of some used A4's I couldn't resist!

Im probably going to buy some A7 hybrids next... I didn't like the "pro black" hybrids unfortunately.

And for all you guys wanting to "game" one, try what I did... Go to your local golf shop and see if they have demos for sale. I did this and it really helped out. I just bought 6 different 6 irons from the clubs I thought I was interested in, and every time I played I would change one out to see how it did. I also took them all to the range a few times to see how they felt, ball flight, and distance. Thats really how I decided on the Adams club. All the Adams clubs (A4's, A7's, CB1&2's) I tried were nice, but only one felt like magic for me.

I'm looking at a deal online for a set of new CB2's with a free hybrid for $639. I've swung these a few times on a simulator and wasn't moved one way or the other (maybe because of the blister on my thumb I had from a previous day of demo'ing). I've heard great things about these clubs but I've also been able to demo the JPX 800 Pro's and found them to be pretty nice.

I'm going to go in to the store to test the hell out of these two clubs but I wanted to try to get some input from people that have used them.

I have till the end of tomorrow to decide on these bad boys.. otherwise it's just waiting until the next holiday sale.. haha

It's not, I got about 150 rounds on them and the wedges are completely gone but oh well, they should have used the same process as Cleveland.

      Day 125 12-15 Half swings with flow drill. Focused on rhythm, loading trail side then getting to lead side correctly. Hit a few foam balls but mostly drilling without ball.

      Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.

      I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.

      Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.

      In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
