Wow you got a Pro caliber distance...  Even YE Yang can only knock his 19 degree hybrid around 220 yards.

Depends on your handicap. As a 14 you can probably hit your 5 wood farther. Me, as a 19 I don't carry a 2 iron or 5 wood but I love my 3 and 4 Taylor Made hybrids. They are very easy to hit. The 2 iron will go the straightest if you can make solid contact.

BTW for hybrid owners, what is your ball position for hybrid shots?

This seems logical, but apparently the average 19 'capper hits a 5 wood quite a bit farther than a 2 hybrid.  Obviously, you know what you hit better, but most bogey golfers should give a 5 wood a try.

I had this same question about a year ago. On building up my club set, I had a driver I liked and a 3-hybrid I hit pretty well, and then found I needed to put something inbetween. I was thinking about getting the 2-hybrid (which they made) or a fairway wood. Asked one golf fitter (who didn't know me personally, but didn't have a financial stake in the answer) and he said the fairway wood--better distance. I asked my teaching pro the same question and went in for a fitting, and he agreed. Set me up with a 5-wood, and it's worked well.

I have a Sonartec 3 wood that seems heavy to me so I don't use it.  I would send it to you for $25 + shipping.  Let me know at this thread.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
