Im debating to make the switch to them from my current wedges.  For those of you who currently game them or have in the past or have just hit them before, what are your opinions.  Im looking at a set of Spin Milled Black Nickel Vokeys (52, 56, 60).

just remember my friend its the  talent in the carpenter not the tools! I am totally titlleist but the money might be better spent on some quality lessons and time around the short game practice area!

I noticed your profile shows you playing TM R9s.  IMO, I would recommend a 21 hdcp player stick with a more playable club.  The Vokeys are a nice club but not as forgiving as the SW, Gap Wedge and LW that are part of more playable set like the R9 or Burner.

I began playing Vokeys this past summer and as many times as I was able to stop the ball close to the pin, just as many times I ended up spinning the ball from 10' to 20 or 30' away from the pin.  So, for most of us, the forgiveness of a mishit is more important than the precise control of a Vokey.

I just put all my Vokey wedges up on eBay and will playing the stock wedges this next summer.

Vokey has the Spin-Milled series, which features:

  • Seven different sole grinds
  • 18 different loft/bounce options
  • Three types of metallic finish

You've got your metallic finish, but what will you do for sole grind and loft/bounce mix?

The TMs you have sport decent shafts. Why exactly do you want to switch?

I just switched my Vokeys out for a pair of conforming Jaws wedges from Callaway. I took them to the dome and I have to say that I'm quite pleased with the feel of the new wedges. Titleist makes great clubs, but I never really feel in love with them. They always had a bit of a clunky feel to them and it was hard to really to get a feel for some shots. But wedges are like putters, it's all about what you like looking at behind the ball. Stay with the better companies, but if you get good with your wedges, they will all work. Practice practice practice.

I thought the r9's looked like clunky GI clubs when I hit them

Then again I was using MP57's at the time

The Vokeys are fine wedges.

I've never found them as solid feeling as Vega or Miura wedges -- but then, they are 8620 - and whether the 8620 cast is Vokey or Bridgestone or another OEM, they don't have the same solid, dense feel as the above forgings.

But look at the shape of the head, find the bounce that fits with your swing (shallow or steep attack) and conditions, and have confidence. The Vokeys are a fine wedge.

I really like my Vokey wedges.  I got them when I was a 20 HC and now I am a 14.  I feel they improved my short game with a very consistent feel.  My approach shots just stop dead on the greens, which helps as well.

I've got one. Good wedge but not particularly outstanding. I see no reason that you would switch from your TaylorMade wedges.
